No water leaks and I run the A/C on trying to pull the moisture out.
Having to crack a window lends credit to my theory the system sucks in humidity. There should be no need to crack a window to vent for help. At least none of my previous Fords needed to crack a window to work properly.
I really think the truck system is designed differently. This is the only one I’ve ever had that will turn the recirculate off on its own.
Like the truck computer/sensors think it knows was best.

NE Ohio. 0-20 degrees. 48 inches of snow the last 3-4 weeks.

No issue with the defrost or heat.

I would check your system. I cant keep heat on too long. Gets way too hot in the cab.

Probably the blend door actuator. Seen other people have problems with it. On mine if it's set on Floor, air comes out the floor vents. If it's set on Defrost, air comes out the dash vents. But if I have it on Floor and Defrost, my preferred setting, no air comes out of anywhere and with the fan on high you just get noise.
As a former Sport Trac owner I know about blend door actuators.

I run it with floor and defrost. I think air comes out where it should but I’ll check again tomorrow.

Have you tried defrost only?

Or God forbid "max defrost?"

Yes and on max you could roast a Turkey in the cab but the side windows will only defrost some. It will not allow for recirculate when on defrost only.

The humidity should be down tomorrow with drier air moving in. I bet it works much better tomorrow. Temps will be low to mid 30 all day which for here is freaking cold!!!!
It was 71 here the day before the cold front. 12 hours later 30 degrees!!!!

Everything I know tells me fresh air is better for defogging your windows. And a cursory Google search says most agree.

Perhaps recirc is not what you want.

Do you use the auto HVAC mode? That uses AC and heat to pull moisture and defrost.

One other thing here too. All plastics out gas. When new is when they’re at the peak for this. That transposes as a film on your glass. It is very difficult to get off with just window cleaner. There is a thread on here about cleaning glass and also dealing with your issue. Pretty sure that’s the root of your problem
Plus one to what Rick says here - I live in a moderately humid area and when the off-gassing film builds up on my windshield, I notice it right away in colder weather. It “fogs” up - it’s as if moisture clings to it or is trapped in it somehow. When the windshield is clean, no issues in any season. If my window fogs up, I know it’s time to break out the microfibre towels. ? ? ?

I live in New England where there can be huge temperature swings in a short period of time like yesterday when it was 50F in the morning and by 4 pm it was 20F. I find the Ranger defrosts the windows quite quickly, much faster than my previous two Mustangs.

I never use auto mode and only use recirculate in the summer to help the AC to cool down the cabin quicker. The defrost settings automatically run the AC to help pull the moisture out of the air (every vehicle I have ever owned with AC did this).

I’ve been driving around this morning and it’s 33. Humidity only 65% today compared to 79% yesterday.
Guess what?
No foggy windows. Air does blow out of floor and defrost vents when both are on so no actuator door issue.
It’s a humidity thing.

You can't defog inside glass on recirc. This just turns turns the passenger compartment into a sauna. Fresh air is dried on the way thru the heater core and absorbs the moisture on the glass and removes it via the cab venting. With the AC on, it super dries the fresh air and removes this extra moisture thru the condensation drains in the evaporator. Wet interior or puddles in your floormats will hamper this process immensely.

I agree with @Trigganometry, I use auto and have no problems. Once in a great while if my hot breath starts to fog my driver window I can either hi the defrost button only and it clears in seconds or crack the back 2 windows and it clears up.

I have over 41,000 miles and the defroster and the trucks heater in general will run you out in no time.
