You back in if you're OCD. I once worked with an engineer who always backed into his parking space. One day I finally asked him why he spent so much time backing in and he told me that all OCD people back into their parking spaces. Evidently its a thing
Can confirm?

Pretty much comes down to safety/visibility. People fly around parking lots all the time and pedestrians are always wandering around.

Working in construction, I was always told that some of the largest companies (i.e.Kiewit) mandated back-in parking onsite. Oldtimers told me that you could always spot their jobs/offices because of how everyone parked.

At Walmart or similar when shopping, I don't back in technically, I park way in the back and pull in forwards to the opposite stall so I am backed in ? which makes it easier to see others not paying attention when I leave. At work I do back in to make a quick exit when I clock out .

I back in to assert my dominance as the superior driver to the other idiots on the road. Unless of course i'm parked way in the boonies in which case i'll typically pull through.

Other than needing to make a quick get-away. Why would you back in when parking?

My brother-in-law is in law enforcement and he always backs in. Presumably to get out faster, if needed.

I used to back in all-of-the-time. Then I realized; If I back in, this leaves the front exposed (hate it when that happens) and if I get hit, they're most likely going to mangle the front of my Ranger, which, I believe, is more costly to repair.

Don't get me wrong - I still park far away and/or next to a median in the parking lot (to at least save one side from door dings). I'd bubble wrap my Blue Bullet if that was feasible.

Just a question I was pondering. ?
So alarm indicator light can been seen through front window. All other windows dark, dark tinted.

I always back in from 'life experience'.......because my, and everyone else's booster cables are only about 5' long. Pull into a parking spot at the mall, come back out an hour later to a dead battery, no one can boost you.....you'll never drive into a parking spot or your driveway ever again.

When parking space is safe to back in & no traffic around, I do back it in. When pulling out of the parking spot, I don't have cross traffic alert, there could be kid running around, etc. It's just safer to back into the spot rather than out of it.

I do get annoyed though in busy parking lot when somebody stop all foot traffic & other cars so they can back into a space.

Its a truck its just what you do. I have only ever backed in. Most truck people are the same way. Trucks are so easy to back in compared to cars and SUVs. So truck people especially those who learned before the year 2000, like to back in.

I prefer backing in. I don't like backing out with vehicles parked beside. The need to swing the front end one way or the other and get as close as I can to the vehicle next to me is less desirable than backing in, which seems pretty easy to me.

More often than not I park out back anyway as it can be difficult to load groceries/etc into my supercab with cars parked along side. I just pull thru then.
