I don't use them like to use them. Adds an extra step every time you rotate or have to remove a wheel. Plus, they offer no to negligable added security in the real world. Hammering on the right sized cheap 12 point socket allows you to take them right off. The only situation I would use them is if my insurance company required them for theft coverage.

I’m another that doesn’t use them. They were the first thing I removed as soon as my truck got home. The Ford ones don’t look nice either, they are much longer than the factory lug nuts.

I use aftermarket gorilla locking nuts and a key. just makes it a little more difficult to steal them if someone really wanted to. my reasoning is if a thief was looking to steal a set. they would choose a easier target than mess with my lug nuts.

Do you remember which model of Gorilla you use? Look like the 71631 would work being 12mm x 1.50. I get they're not perfect but provide a bit of deterrence.

Thanks!

I used black Gorilla Locks on my CJ-5 and loved the look. I had black wheels and went with the full kit for each wheel. Over kill to have 5 locks on each wheel, but damn - it looked good.
But for stock wheels and tires I am not so worried about not having a wheel locks.

If anyone has a spare lug nut, I'd appreciate it. I lost one already somehow:crying:

those will work well to as just lugs. I had those style on my last vehicle and would have sticked with them. but they were a little more than what I went with.

They really don't help against theft much but I still using them.
Did anyone got a part# on a set of locks for the optional Aluminum Magnetic Pocket Wheels? Ford, McGard, Gorilla..
Lugs 12"x 20?

I was thinking to buy wheel lock but now I am confused again. Some are calling them useless while others are praising. Should I use it? If yes, then any recommendation?

I use them. I understand that it's not a huge deterrent, but figure it would at least slow a thief down a bit.

I'm using Gorilla 61631N. Amazon says they don't fit, but they do and have the correct 60 degree cone.

Hi Charlie,

Do not appear to have the same bearing area as OEM.... This seems to be a problem with McGard a Gorilla and others...

I had those on my CJ-5 with black steel wheels. Used them for all 20 lug bolts! Looked awesome! But yes it was $$$ and I had more money than sense back then.
mom getting my wheels on my ranger next week and would hope to find black locks that will fit. Do you know if they do fit rangers?
