The remote start thing is my own theory. I'd like to see if someone else experiences the same thing. I can't think of anything else that would account for it.

EDIT - I should add I only use the scheduled remote starts; I'm not starting it off the fob. I don't know if that would make a difference or not.
I filled up a mile from the house, reset the trip log and babied it home showing 32 mpg. My auto start is also scheduled on the app. Went to the truck the next morning after running maybe 10 minutes and the fuel mileage showed 17. I think it does account for it.

off the topic, how long does the truck run after a scheduled remote start from the Ford Pass? I tried it a couple times and it seems when I get to it in less than 10 minutes its already off. I know the keyfob remote start runs 15 minutes.
If you start it from the app, even with the scheduled start, it will show time remaining, and has a button to extend the time. It will double the duration. Press it a third time and it will get mad and tell you to go start it with the key.

I've got just over 1500 miles on my Ranger now and was thinking of doing an "early" oil change. I don't see any downside to it but was wondering what other folks have done and/or recommend.

I'm at 1700 and was tossing it around...maybe 2500 and switch to synthetic... and let them check the tranny at the same time..., dealer says " just go by the monitor"...

I'm debating too. 2500 seemed right - I might bring it in next week. Does anyone know if the dealer would use synthetic by default? I'm assuming they would ask.

I did my 1st oil change at 2,500 miles and used Amsoil signature series 100% full synthetic.......just because it made ME feel better....not necessarily because it was needed. I'm at 7,000 miles now and told my mechanic to order more Amsoil signature series 100% full synthetic and their oil filter and their rear diff fluid so I can do another oil change and rear differ service at 7,500 miles......because again it makes ME feel better and I plan on keeping my Tremor for a very long time.

it's YOUR truck and you do as you wish but check and follow your owners manual......but it doesn't hurt doing more then what they recommend/require

I just had my first oil change done on the Ranger at 3500 miles. Got "The Works" oil change. Have to specify if you want full synthetic. It was $30 more than the regular oil.

Question though. Where in the owner's manual is the suggested maintenance schedule?? I flipped through it but couldn't find it. I always followed it on my 2003 Mountaineer (still going good at 122,000 miles). It came with a separate little Ford booklet, wasn't in the owner's manual. No separate booklet came with the Ranger and like I said, I couldn't find it in the owner's manual.

I did the first change at 3K an the second one at 8K an do 5K intervals now. I waited until 8K to go full synthetic to make sure the rings an stuff were broken in since I had the fuel smell in the oil early on. There's as many opinions on this as they are members on here so do what you think is best.

Don't forget the time factor..

I split my driving between two vehicles and average about 5k miles on each per year. So an oil change every 5k miles for me is once per year, if I did it every 6 months that's one at every 2.5k miles.

Ford recommends 16,000km between oil changes. I played it safe and did it early at 15,974km (9924 miles). I'm at 31,818km and almost ready to do the 2nd. I use full synthetic, Mobil 1 or Castrol.

Please use the search bar as this has been beat to death many times already. If you look at the bottom of this thread and there's several others that have been started. I'll merge it with the most recent and you can look back through that one.

Starts on page 416. You can download a .pdf Owers Manual for any Ford or Lincoln product here.

Thank you. I see how I missed it. I was looking for something similar to the lay out of what came in my Mountaineer's suggested maintenance little booklet according to mileage. You filled in next to each when you had each particular item done. Had room next to each to fill in the date, mileage, where performed.

I change mine when the computer tells me. Its a low mileage truck so I get prompted to get it changed more often than what the manual says.

I'll be darned, I must need newer glasses.... I just scrolled through the entire .pdf file twice and I don't see that.

I did find the Scheduled Maintenance section starting at page 416. So at least there's that.
