Or even the folks that got diesel Colorados! I had a guy bragging to me that he got 30mpg last tank in his Colorado, and I had to bring him back to reality because gas is 4.40 and diesel is 6.40! At the 26mpg I got in my ranger last tank I'm still ahead! This is on winding 55mph Maine roads, 100miles in on this tank and I am averaging over 27mph on the dash. Even the 40mpg diesel VW folks are starting to get into Subaru like economy numbers.
$2 difference, wow, that is extreme. I had to do the math in my head twice when I saw the $.85 difference, thinking I surely dropped a digit somewhere.

Over here, one gallon of petrol is about 6.1$. Diesel is around 7.2$ and rising each day,
petrol not so much. Minimum wage is about 2$ per hour over here. I can afford it, yet every time I fill it up si a moment of ?.

Anyway, driving a truck in europe without really needing it 100% (not a business need) is a spoiled privilege.

filled up today at Costco...63.7L to top it off.
Mr. RP:
If you are going to quote those "weird" amounts, the least you could do is also list the amount in the correct values so I don't have to Google it. 63.3L is really 16.8 gal.

I'm with you. Mine doesn't do that well with MPG's either. I average around 18 on the cluster. If I do the math on my trusty phone calculator I'm around 17. Funny, my supercharged GT Mustang gets around the same. Actually my Mustang does better MPG's on the highway than my Ranger. LOL
my current gen Mustangs also got good highway miles per gallon as long as my right foot behaved. The low aerodynamic body mixed with the engine having plenty of power made it seem like the car was barely awake at 70 mph.

It is just as cheap to keep'em full as it is to keep'em empty! :like:
Continuously running low on fuel can actually shorten fuel pump longevity.
You can save up to 20% by driving for fuel economy.
Buying with a credit card can relieve some of the pain temporarily, but it can still hurt when the bill comes in. ?

i dont want to start a riot or drag this into a political thing but im honestly not understanding the fuel prices. ive heard it was due to the war with russia and ukraine but i know that cant be it, prices were heading up before all that even became an issue. ive also heard due to covid, but i live pretty near grapevine by 26 close to dfw airport where fuel trucks fill up in my area and then head out to stations and i can tell you they are not short handed or running slow, the places is jumping so it is not the place or the drivers being gone or closed. in the heat of the pandemic lock downs the prices were lower pre vax etc. things have improved since then and price is higher. can somebody give me a legit answer that does not get the thread band or start issues?

Not lower than 1/4 tank except during hurricane season and I keep it topped off most of the time in-case we need to bug out and everyone else is draining the gas stations dry.

I know this has been brought up in other mpg threads but I don't think we've ever had one dedicated to this. I usually fill up when a 1/4 tank is left but with gas being so high now I've been filling up right around the 1/2 way mark. It's just a little less painful even though you're spending the same amount in the end. I had an ex who'd run it down to fumes!

So are you conservative and fill up early or adventurous and live on the edge??

I usually fill up at around a half tank. We have a Love's truck stop 1 mile away and it is generally on our travel route so it is an easy fill up. We are spoiled here...we still have an attendant to pump our fuel!!!:sunglasses::sun:

about every 10ish days. depending on what I do on the weekends. usually about the 1/4 line.

though this last time I only put in 7 gallons, as at the end of this week I need to fill up with 93 and that is going to hurt. (going to tow the camper)
