Rick is correct! There are some threads on E85 that might help you decide to take on the task of making it E85, but not flex fuel. Pump gas or E85....not calibrated to handle any other mixture in between...Hello all, just wondering what it would take to convert a 21 Ranger to flex Fuel. Is it even possible or is the closest option a sensor and tune install?
More powah! People are getting 350whp plus on the dyno using e85, upgraded fuel pump and and a e85 tune. Why run E85? If it's to save money at the pump, you won't as you MPG will be much lower. Is it for environmental reasons? Again, not a good one as burning ethanol is worse for the environment than gasoline.
" The claim that biofuels reduce greenhouse gas emissions is one of the biggest fibs of the modern age. The EPA’s own data shows that corn ethanol is worse for the environment than conventional gasoline. "

YEP MPG is ass on 85. You only buy it for the power. I have a JB4 and can get up to 30%mix. It is a demon but even then the MPG dropped minimum 2 pointsI run E15 all the time with no issues. I did learn the hard way on my old truck to run fuel system cleaner on a regular basis though, like every oil change.
My wife's Chrysler minivan is Flex Fuel rated but she's tried E85 and the mpg dropped enough that she didn't really save any money even though it's like 70 cents less a gallon than regular 87.
