Hello all, just wondering what it would take to convert a 21 Ranger to flex Fuel. Is it even possible or is the closest option a sensor and tune install?

Too many variables on a system not designed for it. I would give up on that idea. What do you hope to gain? You will spend way over what you will save.

Rick is correct! There are some threads on E85 that might help you decide to take on the task of making it E85, but not flex fuel. Pump gas or E85....not calibrated to handle any other mixture in between...

best,
Phil

You need a tuner that understands how to tune for it.
‘I use A tuner that has my Hellcat setup to run flex.
‘There are usually supporting mods necessary, but I’m sure it can be done.

I run E15 all the time with no issues. I did learn the hard way on my old truck to run fuel system cleaner on a regular basis though, like every oil change.
My wife's Chrysler minivan is Flex Fuel rated but she's tried E85 and the mpg dropped enough that she didn't really save any money even though it's like 70 cents less a gallon than regular 87.

You can run any ethanol mix you want, provided you have the proper tune and enough fuel system to support it. If you are talking about flex fuel, meaning you put anything from ethanol free up to E85 and the ECU will adjust according to the ethanol content, you need an ECU that has tables to support that type of function, and to my knowledge the Ecoboost ECU's do not.

Why run E85? If it's to save money at the pump, you won't as you MPG will be much lower. Is it for environmental reasons? Again, not a good one as burning ethanol is worse for the environment than gasoline.
" The claim that biofuels reduce greenhouse gas emissions is one of the biggest fibs of the modern age. The EPA’s own data shows that corn ethanol is worse for the environment than conventional gasoline. "

People typically run ethanol for octane and cooling.

No Ranger solution yet For flex fuel. What you will need is a flex fuel sensor, box to interpret and talk to the ECU, new ECU software. There are solutions out there for many cars but I doubt anyone is going spend the time/money to do it for the Ranger. There are solution to run EXX. Just you have to stay close to the ethanol content once you load up the tune.

More powah! People are getting 350whp plus on the dyno using e85, upgraded fuel pump and and a e85 tune.

YEP MPG is ass on 85. You only buy it for the power. I have a JB4 and can get up to 30%mix. It is a demon but even then the MPG dropped minimum 2 points
