That’s going to eventually fail and throw an error code, or worse.....

yeah, its def pretty sketchy. These are the best pics I could get of it. Pretty sure its gotta be for an aux tank. Having said that, does anyone even make an aux tank for the ranger? Actually wouldnt mind having one, especially if that hose is just sitting there with a screw in the end of it.

To me the top photo looks like the line is into the fuel tank not the filler tube. Like others probably hillbilly aux fuel tank, or moonshine runner.

Sounds like the k8d doing burnouts managed to trade the truck in and the dealer took it hook line and sinker
I don't want to be too negative here since I try to avoid that. But it does sound like if there has already been 15k in repairs on a 30k truck, and given the pictures here, the dealer sold the OP a Ranger that got abused by someone and is a lemon. Maybe time for the OP to ask the dealer for a different option. I don't know...

It goes to the Retro Encabulator made for Ford under contract by Rockwell Automation. Here's a video that beaks it down in easy bite sized chunks any one can understand.

Years ago I saw something similar to this. It was an extended length axle vent line. Guy went into rivers and streams often so he connected a longer hose to the rear axle vent. The other end was routed up higher into the bed so water would not get into the axle vent and mix with the oil. The stock axle vent on that truck was only an inch tall on top of the rear axle.

You sure somebody didn't have a roller cover on the bed and thought that upgrading the drain tube to that crappy braided hose was a good mod?
Are you certain it's actually connected to anything on the underneath?
I hope that is all it is.....

CARR fire in Redding CA 2018, we were evacuating. Was crazy
Safe to assume all turned out ok? People give us shit about hurricanes down here in FL, but at least we get a great deal more warning. Those fires are unpredictable as can be with the erratic winds.

I was thinking the same thing. From the pictures it looks like the little truck has had a short hard life. OP, I would be having a little "come to Jesus" meeting with the dealer about what ever that thing is. Good luck.
