I had a 2010 Raptor, I was happy to send it on it's way, the fuel mileage was painful, but the off road capabilities were awesome I must say.
It sounded like it was starting to get a bottom end knock, no way was I going to put a engine in it.
The solution was the Ranger, if something breaks, somebody else has to fix it and it is much better on fuel, as well as more fun to drive.

Had a 2019 Challenger for a year until we had our baby. I went from a bachelor’s car to a dad truck over night. Baby seats don’t fit in challengers lol

2017 Audi A4. Great car, but I needed a truck and the Ranger is more practical.

For my 2019 XLT, sold my 3rd Ranger, a sharp 2004 XLT SC 4.0 5 spd w/ about 92k miles. An old dairy farmer bought it for his grandson, who wasted no time wrapping it around a tree!

What issues were you having?
Steering box issue 22k, various electrical issues, tranny issues. Last straw was tranny shudder starting around 65k miles. GM’s fix was a tranny flush and different tranny fluid. They said no to worry the fix would last but for many with the same tranny it didn’t……the torque converter was also an issue They wouldn’t address.

I got out while I could and made some $$ on the deal.
Pissed me off because it was a sharp sporty truck that was fun to drive but didn’t want to risk anymore issues out of warranty.

Agreed, my '00 4x2 S/Cab with a 4.0 OHV V6/automatic would routinely return 15 mpg (on a good day)
I did, however special order it with a 4:10 locking 3rd. member, it loved to smoke the rear tires...

Stick...what I wanted on my 2019, but no dice!
Interesting, I thought all 4.0 V6's, be it a OHV or OHC version in either 4x2 or 4x4 drive only came with automatics, guess I was wrong.
I helped my cousin in locating a new '00 S/Cab 4x2, he insisted that it be a V6, manual trans and a S/Cab. Ford did not offer what he wanted, the only body style available was an extended cab (no suicide doors) with 3.0 V6 and 5 speed. We drove one...it was a slug, he bought a new Tundra instead
No doubt your '04 was equipped with the OHC version of the 4.0 V6, must have been fun to drive with a 5 speed manual...looks as though the grandson had a 'lil too much fun!

Yeah, that 4.0 was fun...pulled out a lot of stumps and bushes, hauled a ton (literally, many times, pic of 1 ton 2B red stone, also hauled 54 cement blocks, twice, for my garage extension). Brand new Michelins when I sold it, a real shame. My 93 white SCab was a 3.0 stick, it was a dog in comparison. My 89 white STX SCab I think had a 4 banger, 2.3 maybe, also stick. That was a nice truck. But I think I like the 2019 best, except I didn't get white, was awestruck by hot pepper red...

2005 F150 XLT Supercab 4x4 to a 2022 Ranger XLT Supercrew 4x4 . . .

F150 was very BAD on gas and a nightmare to park around the city. Ranger is plenty of truck for me.

My '00 S/Cab originally came from the factory shod with Firestones, I could not wait to get rid of them and install a set of Michelins.
I did not routinely overload my Ranger but I did haul almost a ton of ceramic tile to the Windward side of Oahu. The highway to get there is a steady uphill climb to 1170 feet elevation, George Bush Sr.'s Caddy limo blew it's motor on the same highway when he visited Oahu in the early '90's, an utter embarrassment for GM.
I set the cruise to 40 mph and set off on my journey, the truck did not whimper nor falter at all, however the temperature gauge needle did swing to the right of center into regions it did not go before, simultaneously, the fuel gauge needle swung in the exact opposite direction...loI
I would had never attempted that drive with the Firestones.
