Gave myself a mild heart attack. Rainy and about 50 degrees. Standard 300+ pounds in/on bed. Getting onto I81 from on ramp and decided I needed to give it the juice to get into traffic…quickly found out I gave it too much juice when I had to let off the gas and steer into the skid 😂🤣😂. I was already going 35 mph when things literally got sideways.

I had something similar happen in my F150. We were up in Northern Maine and had my clamshell snowmobile trailer and hit a patch of black ice and started to see the trailer trying to lass me in my mirror. Well not exactly but it was going sideways and my buddy followed me thought for sure it was going to jackknife. Luckily we were going slow and it straightened out but the pucker factor and skid marks were real. 💩

Sounds like despite the adrenaline keeping a cool head and not panicking is amazing getting us out of potential disasters.

In times like that. Dad will say, "the pucker factor was high."

Back when I was running my dump truck my old timer trucking buddy blew a front tire on his truck loaded on the hwy. He said " there was a time you could not have got a toohpick between the checks of my ass". Didn't wreck held on tight.

There isn't anything like a steering tire failure to get your attention and start drawing up parts you didnt know could be drawed up.

Very true Chris @Chris M. Which is why Dad constantly tells me to make sure that I have good tires on my truck. Ya'll stay safe!

I do the same thing. If I wake up we are leaving. No sense tossing and turning for hours!

Reminds me of a movie. I think it was The Great Santini - the family left for road trips in the middle of the night because they would make better time.

Did that one time leaving St Louis for vacation heading west. Decided to get an earlier start than usual. Got to the last rest station in MO had to stop & take a nap. So much for leaving early. 😴
