I’ll poke around and look at the tire some more in the morning. It had to have been some sort of sudden failure to lose that much pressure that quickly. The next emergency pull-off from where I received the warning

Will poke around and look at the tire more in the morning. I had a little bit to limp before I could get to an emergency pull-off. The speed at which I lost pressure seems to line up with a sudden failure. While pressure dropped quick and I could sense something wasn’t right, it did take another few minutes before the tire was audibly flat.
I've had good luck at Discount tire. They use to be a sponsor here and give members a discount but unfortunately they're not anymore.

I've also bought tires from here online. They'll ship to you or a shop near you.

Rear right tire blew on highway in a rain storm. Original Hankook ATMs at under 36k mi. Replaced with the full size spare on the side of the highway.
Was going from crawling in traffic to just barely accelerating and the tire pressure warning came up at 25PSI quickly plummeting. Ended up around 5 psi in a matter of minutes or less. Not sure what caused it. No notable road debris or anything. Just a slow ride in rainy day traffic before seemingly sudden failure.

Managed to have some help with the right tools come by as I was working to get the spare out.

Now I’m trying to figure if I go for a full set replacement now. I had a The Works service about 1k miles ago and the tire wear was noted as “Good”.
My original Hankook ATMs lasted about 13000 miles when I lost one to a wheel weight. They were 90% done so I replaced them with 5 Continental Terrain Contact AT's in 265/70x17 and a matching wheel for 5 tire rotations. Better in every way than the OEM tires.

Mine were shot at 36800 when I bought the truck. I eeked out one hunting season and winter then put the Toyo AT IIIs on at around 42000. The OEMs aren't high mile tires anyway. Just get a better set and don't look back. Check out Tire Rack and at least compare prices locally. My mechanic actually beat Tire Rack's price on my Toyos.

Noticed my skid plate hanging down when I changed the oil last weekend, one of the bolts had snapped. In trying to seat a new bolt and tighten things back up, I noticed the tow hook bracket was all bent out of shape and I couldn’t get it to line back up. Then it occurred to me that I haven’t removed the front skid plate since the accident I had last year. Instead of replacing the tow hook, the body shop must have forced the bracket back into place and called it good enough. Over time the bolt must have gotten worn out and snapped.

Looked online at parts and was shocked at how much OEM tow hooks cost. $125-$150 for ONE hook?! Took the opportunity to order an upgrade… Instead of replacing the factory hardware, I switched them both to offroad D-Ring style for roughly half the price. Came out to $80 for both instead of $150 for one.

While I was at it, I replaced the light bar on the grille guard since the last one took a rock on the freeway and stopped working shortly after. All in all, total cost was $110 and took about 30 mins to install both hooks and the light bar. Happy with the upgrade.

Truck looks great!
What was the reason for the tire change?
Brian
Thanks! Had the original tires for just under 36k miles. Rear right tire failed the other day. pics are a couple posts up. The ATMs are discontinued and I figured I might as well get something good. The dealer recommended me Kelly Safari tires and didn't feel right for the price they were asking so I went elsewhere.
