35K mile inspection, some fluid for the crankcase and engine to prevent something turning into jelly, tire pressure inspection, battery inspection (80% life left), and various other bull-crap that's not needed if they even check all the things on the "multi-point inspection." I can go further into details if someone was wondering, just didn't have the receipt next to me. Only thing useful but not worth it was the synthetic oil change. I will be doing my own next time instead of waiting a half a day for an oil change... Total cost $350~. 175ish for the oil change and 175ish for the 30-35k mile inspection.

TLDR: 35k mile inspection does not seem to be worth it and do your own oil changes.

I got screwed last time when I asked for a new cabin air filter, which they charged $30 to install. It is about a one minute install, I just wasn't able to source the filter myself at the time. Learned my lesson on that one.

The gf's outback needed it's 50 or 60k service, I went through the multipoint checklist with the service guy and asked if they did each of them or found issues with any of the items while inspecting them during the included inspection. They said no, so I congratulated them on helping me complete the service as required.

He stammered that's not how it worked, and I needed a mechanic to sign off on it. I pointed to the completed checklist and said they finished it right there, and we did an oil change so we've met all requirements as the service says inspect and replace as needed.

Oh most definitely they took me for a good ride. I think most of the cost was the fluids to "prevent things turning into jelly"... Happens, but they lost a customer with their almost predatory services. Warranty was the only reason I kept going to them, but that's about to end for me. We live and we learn, that's for sure.

So I took off the Nerf bars I had on the truck and put these TAC Sidewinders on.
Opinions from anybody on how they look? I'm thinking they stick out too much, although I get a good step-up when entering/exiting the truck.
I know they would look much better if the truck was lifted/leveled but I have no intentions of doing so. I do no off-roading. The wifey likes them and to be honest my fat gut appreciates the help getting in and out. They are the same or a tad less width as the side mirrors when they're fully extended on the truck.
I saw a couple pics from reviews that really didn't show them sticking out so much. If anything they'll give me some door protection from the parking lot imbeciles.

I think they look great and don’t stick out very far.

26 brackets for... things happening soon.

Starting this evening the rack will be getting one final tear down and one final re-design. Version 4 will be the last, but it will be the most up-armored, and the most well thought out thanks to the technical feedback to my inquires from various members of R5G with such backgrounds and knowledge regarding the subject. I can't reiterate how valuable these people have been to my design decisions and evolution over the past few years. These are people with engineering or fabrication background that are active and contributing long standing members for the most part.

Against my bitter shit-talking on the looks of the new Ranger front designs, I cannot lie I am debating the reservation of a new Raptor when the time comes. Not decided. However if it goes that path I would be selling my custom truck on the private market with all the bells and whistles for a nice profit based on other marketing trends of specialty packages with far less features.

If I do end up buying a Raptor, my new tradition of Frankenstein fabrications will of course continue onto the new platform.

Or I don't buy a Raptor and continue on with the current truck for quite some time as no other vehicle comes even remotely close to interesting me leaving my current Ranger.

Unless Ford actually released the Everest here, then my friends, all you will see is a dust trail as I eject hyper-speed out the exit door. Doubt that will happen though.

I would definitely get into an Everest if they ever came here. Damn, I love those things!

-Tires moved over to new wheels
-Front and rear differential fluid changed
-Trans flush and filter change
-Trans KAM reset

I would tell you the price but it would probably anger you! So instead, some pics of the Ranger on it's new Black Rhino Armory wheels!
