That definitely crossed my mind. Something I will watch for sure since I live in an area of the country that uses thousands of tons of salt every winter.

Didn't the earlier year models come with plugs in the holes and Ford saved $1.00 by leaving them off of the later models?

Yes.
My 2019 Ranger had the holes plugged and painted over from the factory.

Marketing likes to play with the names of paint colors. Fighter Jet Grey sounds better for a Mustang Mach 1 but the same paint code on a Ranger or Bronco is Cactus Grey. I once had a Focus ST that was called Tangerine Scream, but looking up the paint code, it was called Electric Yellow. It is all about marketing. Plus some of todays paint changes depending on the available lighting. The Tangerine was almost orange in low light, but lived up to the electric yellow name in bright sunlight. i have never seen a tangerine that looked like that.

Automotive paint has sure come a long way since Henry Ford would sell you any color you wanted as long as it was Black. But now I wonder was it shadow black, jet black, absolute black.....

Fighter Jet Grey is definitely good for much more horsepower than Cactus Grey. ?

Changed oil and rotated tires. While doing a multipoint inspection, noticed the outer cv boot on the passenger front axle has a small crack starting and has started to sprinkle cv joint grease. 10k miles on it so far and all stock suspension so either it was damaged during assembly, some debris hit it at some point while driving or its just deteriorating and falling apart . I wiped off the greasy film to see if it was just residual assembly lube or actually leaking. You can see the crack there next to the band clamp.

You know, I always forget to take pics when I do something with the truck. Today I picked up a new office chair from Staples and happily toted that big box back home the hour-long drive.

I also put the stock halogen headlights back in so I wouldn't be a jerk and blind oncoming drivers. I really hate the halogens, but maybe one day I can get some Morimotos.

Oil change, rotated tires, cleaned windshield and replaced wipers with Bosch envisions. Leagues better than what the ford oem ones were like new. Also fixed rear rokblocks flaps as when dealer had to repaint the pinchwelds of my truck they had to remove bed and rear flaps. They never put them back on correctly and I’ve been meaning to redo them. Oil did not smell predominantly like gas like the last change. Was more of oil with some gas type of smell. At least puts my mind at ease that it’s not gonna get worse. For oil I just used the motor craft blend. I went with penzoil platinum first time but based on the gas issue and changing it more frequently I don’t think it’s worth it. Used my impact driver (the small ones, not the crazy powerful ones)with an 1/4-3/4 socket adapter for the skid plate bolts. That saved me so much of a headache as last time I couldn’t get into a good position to get leverage on the ratchet. I’m gonna have to get a bottle Jack as I can’t get truck high enough with my floor Jack to use a creeper. Plus it will help with the tractor so it’s a win win. I imagine a bottle Jack will be better for my next vehicle as well anyway

They're not LED so minimal brightness increase but I did note of the cleaner and larger beam pattern. I'm still using the factory bulbs so I can't comment on how well they work for the ranger housing.

Pepper and Snowflake (yes I felt I had to come up with a catchy name for my wife's platinum white extra co$t E$cape?) both got a bath yesterday. Then did the Escape with the 303 Grapgene nano spray, and will do Pepper sometime soon. But a small complaint, can't Gold Eagle make a decent spray bottle? The suction tube kept popping off. Annoying. And yes, I kept shaking it up...
Since I'm going backward from today, on Friday Pepper took me to a Dr appointment and on the way home we stopped at a nearby Ford dealer to snoop (not my local one). 4 Mavericks, all in the $28-$29k range PLUS $7,500 mkt adjustment! Also had 1 Bronco, Cactus Gray Sasquatch, not bad at $55k, but had an astounding $20k mkt adjustment on top!! So as not to offend Pepper, I didn't look at the Rangers, plus, they must have been hiding, or in the back row. BTW my local dealer has zero Rangers, Broncos, or Mavericks. Very disappointing.

Quickjack <------- These are so handy for oil changes and tire rotations! I'd love to have a lift, but that's not going to ever happen until I find a place with a shop building.

After replacing the battery I installed a battery tender and plug so I can easily plug it in when I park in the garage. Tender mounted in front of the battery and the plug is directly below in the air dam.

My Ranger arrived on Sept 6, 2022. It sat on the dealers lot in Santa Clara CA for a month or so, I bought it and had it shipped to my place here in South Dakota. I parked it in the garage and never moved it. 2 weeks later I was going to tinker with it & the battery was dead. I assume it was low when it was delivered. So, I added a maintainer and keep it plugged in all the time.

I also keep a maintainer attached to my F250. I have the Odyssey batteries installed on that pickup truck. They are going on 13 years old and are still going strong. Seems that a maintainer is a wise addition for these AGM batteries.

If I recall correctly, the battery died before I installed the ASS Eliminator (plug & play version) and maybe adding it helped cure the battery drain issue?

For the first time in about 15 years I did an oil change in the driveway. These old bones were not at all happy about crawling under the truck.?

My Factory Five Speedstar is currently on my lift and is at a point where it is not easily moved off the lift hence the oil change in the driveway.

On the plus side sitting on my roll around stool the oil filter was super easy to access. ?

Ahhhh, had to think about this for a bit. Now I see how a bottle of Jack helps you get on the floor under your truck. But fail to understand how It'll help your tractor
