Back in the 70's I knew an old guy that used house paint & a brush to paint his 60 Ford. It was a fifty footer, any closer you could see the brush marks. ​

Back in the 70's my neighbor used a pump bug sprayer to paint his truck.

Man, it was all red when he was done, but even from 50' you could see the inconsistency in the paint.

He was so proud of himself. His first truck ever! He immigrated from Cuba to Spain to Argentina, to the USA via Alaska, before getting where he wanted to be - South Miami!

A really nice fellow.

I took him all day to paint that truck and he was covered with red over spray. He stood in his bed to paint the top of the truck cab. His arms had to be tired when he was done. He did the job just off the road on his small front yard. He was constantly filling up that sprayer.

In the Navy we used brushes and rollers to paint the ship. Just like cars and trucks it’s a rust preventative.. I’ve seen some decent brush work that looked sprayed.

Our saying was “If it moves salute it, if not then paint it”.

Pampered the Ranger a bit this morning - I had washed it yesterday but I still needed to clean behind its ears, so to speak. Some bug and tar remover where needed, a 303 Detail Spray treatment, Aero Cosmetic Rubber care on the tires, deep cleaning and detail spray on the wheels, 303 protectant on the fender flares, grille, mirrors and other plastic trim pieces. I even put some 303 on the side steps that I restored over the winter.

For a six-year old work truck, it still looks good.

My favourite fall colour is Shadow Black.

Duke it looks great, but I really Love the looks of those tires I am going to try that aero tires are not suppose to shine!

Clean them really well to get rid of the brown crap, then a generous coating of Aero Cosmetics Rubber Care. You won’t be disappointed.

Actually yesterday, rotated the tires. Got a long road trip next week (Yea!) and did a quick check of my maintenance record sheet. Oil, air filter etc all good. Tire rotation… Ah Houston, we have a problem. Yep, way behind. So rotated them yesterday afternoon.

Must say, the Generals are wearing nice and evenly. No weird wear patterns anywhere. Truck just turned 45K miles this week. At this point I ‘m guessing I’ll get about 60K out of the tires.

And installed the new lug nuts that I bought a couple of months ago. Ford 2 piece went into the metal recycling bin. Took care of that future problem.

I know there is a “what did you get” thread but I figured we could start a what did you do to your Ranger today thread because I have enjoyed them on other forums...

so I’ll start off with this...

I got some metallic gray vinyl off amazon to try and match the factory Magnetic gray so I could wrap some pieces on the interior. So for a little test I did the door trim below the window switches to see how i like it. I’m happy with how it turned out, it’s not a perfect match (little light) but I think it looks good and breaks up all the black on the door.

What do you guys think?
