Wanting to see what I could sell this truck for private party out of Charlotte, NC. Carvana offered me 27.500 & would definitely want to try private party if I can confidently get 29500 or above. LMK your thoughts

First of all, everything is in good shape. No rush, mechanical issues, interior damage, etc. The only thing is the drivers side running board has a small dent.

2019 Lariat FX4 supercrew ranger in white with the chrome appearance package. Just under 44k miles with a clean title. Additional options include premium sound, adaptive cruise, towing hitch, bed liner, & navigation. There might be one or two others I'm forgetting but that should be it. Thanks

My experience with Carvana, you won't get more for it.

Things may have changed, but I sold an outback when I bought my truck, and my trade value was horrible and my private sale just had people telling me I'd never get the same from Carvana.

I sold to Carvana and got 2x my trade value, and 2K more than anyone wanted to give me in a private sale. It was a painless transfer, they gave me a price, showed up with a flatbed and a check, and drove it away.

See what Carvana is trying to sell similar trucks for...also autotrader.com may give you an idea of market parameters.

Good luck!

You can always try driveway they sometimes offer a little more than Carvana. This is usually area dependent too on their supply/demand and I've had them up their offer a few months later because there was more of a demand then. If I were you and you're than close $1,500-$2,000 selling to one of these companies I'd take the money and run.

I hate selling stuff privately because half the time you get bombed with stupid questions or they ask. "Is this still available" then never respond once you say yes. :explode: Then you get the ones who either never show up or the tire kickers who come by and just want to test drive your truck. Do you really want to let some stranger drive your truck?

Added: I got a price for my outback from Carvana, and posted that in autotrader. Someone said they'de give me 500 more, so I said great, come get it. He contacted me back and said CV would never give me that much.

I accepted the CV offer, and they came and got it for their offered price.

You can try your luck with private sale, but IMO it wasn't worth the trouble dealing with douche bags.

I’ve done private sale and Clutch. Each have their benefits and drawbacks but Clutch or Carvana are quick and easy. My time and peace of mind are important. I wouldn’t want to go through the BS of a private sale for 2-3 weeks just to have a bunch of used car lots and curbers trying to lowball me.

You also have to make sure they register the vehicle. Some don’t and depending on your state regs, you could be on the hook if anything happens with that vehicle. With the big online sellers, that’s not an issue.

They just fuss and fart over your photos, confirm what they saw when they show up, and pay you - done.

Sold our 2021 Ranger, a Lariat, but 2 WD, just over 30,000 miles. Dealer offered $24,000, basically an even swap for the 2019 Expedition we wanted to buy from them.
Went to Carvana and got a first offer of $27,000. With previous experience with them, we didn't take the offer, but a day later they up'd the offer to $28.000 which we accepted.
Saw it a week later on their web site for $32,000....might have accepted $30,500 or $31,000....their entitled to their profit.....
Our second time selling to them....easy, effortless.
Their offer to you seems fair....yours is 2 years older, with higher mileage...$27,500 seems fair....

It sounds like most here have had a much different experience with Carvana than the one I had. When I was trying to sell my 2022 Ranger Lariat, Carvana offered me $24,200. It got me pretty upset really. The truck was worth WAAAY more than that. In the end, I sold it to a local dealer for $31,000. As a result, I vowed to NEVER trust Carvana for any kind of transaction in the future.

based on my experience selling my focus to Carvana, I would sell the ranger to them in a heartbeat. Gave me more than dealer, picked it up, and handed me a check. No inspection, no arguing, just dropped the check off, took some pics, and drove it away. Even if they gave me the same as a dealer I’d still sell to them, the process was easy.

In 2021 I sold my 2011 Ranger to them for ore than the dealer offered me. Though in the end because of the way sales tax is calculated on cars Ohio I came out about even. In Ohio sales tax on new cars is calculated after deducting the vaĺue of t h e trade in.
