Sauce. Backlogged with about 200 pounds of tomatoes so got out my squeezomatic and pureed about 8 1/2 gallons of them. Cooking down and adding the rest of the ingredients for a garlic basil sauce I'm going to can. Soooo good when you mix paste, plum, black, cherry, and principle tomatoes in a batch of sauce.

?? What’s old is new again. How many times is that saying going to prove itself once more?

My grandmother (small town and farming background) had a “root cellar” that was stocked with all sorts of food from her garden to get them through the winter - even when fresh produce was available year round from the local grocer. There are important lessons to learn in being able to preserve food for ourselves. The grocery business in Canada is controlled by only a few very large, privately-owned companies and the other big guns like Walmart, Costco, and Whole Foods. It seems similar in the U.S. but a bit more regionalized. You are way ahead of the game by taking care of yourselves and not making the billionaires richer Ed.

And I’m sure the food you‘re enjoying is of much higher quality! Can’t beat fresh veggies from your garden in mid-February .
