We made it out to Cosmos Mystery area today before this relentless rain came. Annie really wanted to go to it so why not. You can ready about the "story" on how it was found but honestly I would not recommend wasting your money going here. At $14/each is was a huge rip off and I'd have rather thrown the money out the window.

You could tell things were magnetized and all the buildings, fences and stairs were built on an angle so it would throw your balance off. Now I will say you can not walk straight and have to struggle or hold a rail to move around inside either of the two buildings. But once you enter them you can feel (at least we could) your head and body have a weird heavy pressure on it like you're being pulled by a huge magnet. Once you leave building you fell your body return to normal. It was weird and I didn't like how it messed with your head and body.

The girl takes a tennis ball and shows you how a board is "supposedly" level by placing it in the middle and it doesn't move. I'm sure there's a magnet both in the ball and beneath the board but then she takes it, places it in a rail that runs along the outside wall and the ball goes up hill. She then takes water and pours it into another smaller angles notched board and instead of it running downhill it flows uphill.

Mark @MXGOLF no worries about having a million pics of this one. lol ?

You really could lean far forward or backwards and not fall over inside these two buildings. The kids were having a lot of fun with it and you can see the one boy standing in the corner with his hands up and leaning out and not falling. ?

She tried to tell up the stairs were perfectly level. o_O:rolleyes:

I'm sure if he kept leaning forward he'd have fallen on his face.

IMG_0626.jpg

This ball is just hanging on an angle like this and not swinging. You could swing it but it'll return to hang just like this. Again it's definitely magnetized.

You really could lean farther forward than normal but the farther I leaned you would eventually lose your balance. I was waiting for her to fall over. lol

Then we got back to another round of storms. Luckily the hail was small but that along with the pounding rain I was pretty worried I'd have some dents. The trucks still soaked but so far it looks fine. I'll tell you, I've had my share of rain for the year on this trip!

I was talking to the owner of this place yesterday. He said everyone in town has been talking about the rainy weather here this summer and how unusual it is to storm/pour like this everyday. He said our summers are short enough and this rain all through June has shortened it even more because soon enough winter will be back. ?

As much as we love SD we could never live here because of the winters and like Neil @NeilP said the brutal thunder/hail storms during the summers. Looking at it that way I guess 110* heat isn't so bad. ?

As much as I hate it, I'm about to the point that I'd welcome it. These storms are becoming very annoying!

We just came back from looking at a home on 5 acres that has enough garage spaces (and then some) for all of my vehicles, and room to store a nice little JD or Kubota tractor with a loader and snow blower and the rest of my yard equipment. It is going to be a tough decision to make. I loved the views, the open space and all the garages. (the house was OK too) BUT I really hate the idea of having to move again, and spending $660K.

Its Mother Nature just reminding you to appreciate where live ?

Maybe drive south until the rain stops, you know, somewhere like Pagosa Springs…

I hear ya. I dread having to move again which we will do at some point. $660K is a lot of money but it does sound like a nice layout for everything. I always ask myself will the convince be worth the aggravation of moving and spending the money? From MA to AZ it was but so far I haven't found a place that was again. Hope it works out for you I know it's a big decision.

Dave this looks an awful lot like the Oregon Vortex. We went there quite a few years ago just to see what it was about. While I agree with you it was weird, I did kind of feel off while we were in "the vortex", so I can't say there isn't something weird about the place. I thought it was interesting, even if it was a tourist trap.

I think we went there the summer we went to Crater Lake - now THAT is place that you have to see to understand - WOW. We need to go back..... I always thought it would be cool to go there in the winter and do a ski/snowshoe - they get LOTS of snow every winter but keep the road to the lodge plowed all year now.

Oh it's a huge tourist trap for sure. lol It was an interesting experience but they play it up to be this "phenomenon" that two college friends happened to discover while walking through the area. lol

I think there's several of these across the country. When we got back I had to look it up online and I found this article about it. They're right that they build everything on an angle and most of it is an optical illusion. But there is a "weird" felling you get once inside these.
