I haven't traded for it yet.

This is a program truck with 1400 miles so they told me to take it home and try it out before making a decision.

It's a left over 2025 loaded Tremor so they are making me a pretty smoking deal on it.

Still deciding if it's worth the cash difference for my Ranger.

The biggest appeal comes down to a few things:

Lifetime powertrain warranty.

Lower bed height.

Lower insurance costs.

The tailgate can be lowered into a midgate position to carry 4x8 sheets flat.

The bad:

Sync 4 is much better than Sync 3, but there are WAY too many items buried in screen menus.

Tremor = 2k MAX towing. Not a really a concern since my Bronco can tow.

Drives like a car = neither plus nor minus.

I mentioned to them that if I traded I would return my truck to stock but the guy who appraises vehicles said he wants it like it is.

They haven't made me an offer yet because I told them I didn't know if I even wanted to trade yet, which led them to offering it to me to take home.

What do you guys think?

Drive it as much as possible to get a good feel for it and then it should be a lot easier for you to make a decision. Since you already have the Bronco to tow with I wouldn't even worry about that. For me comfort is the main factor now then all the other goodie it has. It sounds like you like it and it's comfortable and the bed height is definitely a huge factor now that we're all getting older. The color is really nice and it'll look even better with a couple coats of 303 Graphene on it! 😜

If it checks most of the boxes and your Bronco meets your other needs, then by taking it home, you may have already answered your own question.

Put it through its paces this weekend and make a list of the pros and cons of such a move.

On a side note, it looks kinda cool!

It's pretty.
YOU have listed a lot of pluses and even negated some of the minuses with your Bronco.

If you like it, make it happen. Looks good from over here in Surprise!

If it’s what you like, that’s what matters. For me, I wouldn’t let my ranger go just because I’ve put too much time and money into aftermarket upgrades and accessories. When I bought the ranger I planned on driving it until the wheels fall off, then rebuilding it into a crawler down the road. That’s still my plan. You’d have to make me an offer I couldn’t refuse and even then, I’d still probably tell you to pound sand lol. I get oddly attached to my trucks. 🤷‍♂️

This.

I've made a lot of upgrades to my Ranger, one of the biggest/best being the Bilstein shocks and Tremor leafs.

Right now my Ranger is running the Livernois 87-89 Performance tune and it is noticeably stronger than the Maverick.

It's getting dark out so I'm about to go drive it to see how the headlights compare to my aftermarket LED headlamps.

Just got back from night driving.

The headlights are about the same as mine.

Also tried Sport mode.

It made a big difference, a bigger difference than it makes in the Ranger.

I had read online that Tremors didn't have Sport mode.

This one does, along with the Off Road modes.

Even in Sport mode, it's still not as strong as my Ranger.

Hmmm...

Edit: Backup lights. Yuck.

My Ranger has an aftermarket rear bumper and I have LED cubes in the bumper.

Backing up in the dark is easy peasy.

These stock backup lights are probably OK but they are terrible compared to my Ranger.

That would have to be fixed ASAP.

I have to agree with the others. You still have your big Bronco for your towing needs. That, and the Maverick is my favorite color, blue. If you really like it, and since you are already testing it out. I say, Go For It!

I'd drive it some more tomorrow and then give it 24hrs. This way you're not making any quick decisions and if after a day or two you still like it I'd buy it. Right now it seems like the only big advantage the Ranger has (for your needs) over it is the length of the bed. That wouldn't stomp from buying it because you can always rent a truck with a longer bed if needed.

You will trade and dump way more money into the maverick than you expect. Heck you might pop a 2.3 in there too lol
Nope, if I get this it will STAY completely stock.

I won't do anything that could possibly jeopardize that lifetime warranty.

Oh, a couple of other pluses that you can't even get on the Ranger...

Heated steering wheel. Mmmmmmmmm....

Power sliding rear window.

This has the sunroof, and with the sunroof open and the rear window open there is a very nice airflow through the cabin.

Lifetime warranty would convince me too

I would make myself justify handing over cash and my current Ranger for a less capable truck. There may be any number of perfectly justifiable reasons for doing it, but you need to have that conversation with yourself.

The Maverick looks have been growing on me and the 2025 looks a lot better than the older ones, IMO. It still isn't enough of a truck for me, especially the bed.

That "lifetime warranty" - make sure you read the fine print. You will most likely have to get all maintenance and service work done at the dealer. The one's I've seen were just marketing fluff - do your own oil changes? Miss one service? cancelled..... But you won't know it if/until you need it.

Good luck with your decision!
