There were a lot of people riding bikes up the hill to the top. Having asthma I give them a lot of credit as the air is very thin and hard to breath up at the top. But surprisingly it didn't bother me as much as I thought it was going to and we were up there for at least an hour. It was cold though and good thing I brought my hoody with me. lol ?

We had a great time with Dave @AzScorpion and his wonderful lady....Too bad it was so short. We had a few glitches with Estes Park on Friday....the biggest being we couldn't get into Rock Mountain NP because of no reservation and then the rain hit. We had a great Italian lunch at Sweet Basilica in Estes before they headed out on the next leg of their adventure. Dave you are welcome back to our house anytime man! You and Ms. A are a class act for sure! Hopefully we can make that trip to Yellowstone work for next year.....

On a funny side note.....I didn't even look at Dave's damper....lol. (although I meant too)
I also forgot to give them a stick of my Antelope sausage I made specifically for them coming...lol.
Forgot to even give them a taste.....Dave has that mesmerizing effect on you so you forget things...

His truck looks great btw.....I'm jealous of those Eibach coil-overs man!
Ughhh, lets see.....
You didn't see Dave's "Damper", and you forgot to give him some of your "sausage"...
Am I missing something here ???

Thanks Mark and it was a pleasure meeting you and Kathy! You all made us feel right at home and it was to bad she couldn't get the day off but hopefully we'll get together another time. I'm hoping we can all do Yellowstone together too! I'm going to start looking into next years trip once we're back home. By looking at all the videos and seeing some articles I'm hoping that Yellowstone is even open next year as there's so much damage there.

After eating all that jambalaya I don't think I could've fit even a bite of the Antelope sausage. lol Ok maybe I could've eaten a little more. So it makes sense to everyone here we all went out to dinner and everyone brought home leftovers except me. I swear I have a tapeworm because I'm the smallest one and can eat like a horse. ?

I was so tired from driving I forgot all about the damper. Did I just say that? Next time I'll have to bring extras for everyone along the way. ?

Thanks Steve I appreciate that offer and likewise if you're ever headed out to AZ. I know the damper will last you the lifetime of your Ranger so I'll pack along some 303 goodies for you. :like:?

Hi Dave,

I am happy you folks got to Colorado Springs Garden of the Gods....we have been there many times and hiked many times as Margie's brother lives there. He was in charge of the huge Broadmore hotel expansion and this is home to my good friend and Pikes Peak Hill Climb Champion Leonard Vasholtz and his son Clint... I was the $ behind his attack of the hill in his potent Fords. The Hill Climb Museum has Leonard's winning Ford Trucks/SUVs. I have several in car videos of him winning... and being a racecar driver.... I just love his car control on the pavement and the transition to dirt to the top... Clint and his son continue the tradition....

They say the Unsers owned the Hill.. BS Lenard has more wins that all Unsers combined....

Here is one of Leonard's winning runs in his Ford Bronco which I sold him for $1.00....

Best,
Phil
Next Sunday, the 100th running .
P. A. Schilke would like to hear your thoughts and backstories if possible, thanks

We're on our last day of hopping through CO. Today we're up in Rangely, CO which is in the N'west corner close to the UT border. We rented a small cabin for the night which is kind of cool seeing as we've been in hotels now for 15 nights.

There's the Dinosaur National Monument about 20 minutes from here on the CO side and another 20 minutes it runs into the UT side. We went to the UT side because that's where they have all the dinosaur fossils and the Quarry Exhibit Hall. They built this around the rock where all the dinosaur bones were found. If you're ever up this way it's a cool place to stop and check out. I bought an annual pass because we're going to be going to 3-4 National Parks & Monuments so we figured it was a cool place to kill a day.

The Vasholtzs are my favorite local hillclimbers. Never saw Leonard race but talked to him once or twice. Clint's open wheel car is a beast and still Ford powered.
