I accepted delivery of my 2026 Ranger XLT on 4/20/2026. I did my due diligence and Gemini told me it would not have that tailgate thingy (can’t bring myself to even say the word).

And look what was attached to my otherwise beautiful Ranger. Duke (@DukeCanBuildit), what the heck should I do? The stress is unbearable! I know Dave (@AzScorpion) is going to delight in my misery. I’ll never hear the end of it.

Time to get out the weight set Al, before you get atrophy.

If there would've been no hope of getting a Ranger 5G in 2021, I might have gotten a Nissan Frontier King Cab 6ft box. I'm not familiar with their models & option groups, but I would've gotten 4WD, dual air, rear locker, and a skid plate group however it's bundled.
Or maybe a GMC AT4 6ft box. I think you could still get an Ext. Cab in 2021.

See anyone who truly hated a damper would've done this. Al secretly always wanted one and could've just taken it off and went about his life. But Noooooo, he had to show it off to the world!

To be fair all fords had a damper on their tailgates since about 04-05 depending on when that model got redesigned. It was a torsion rod in the tailgate. You just couldn’t see it. But when they were broke on the superduty you really felt that sissy Howie Long step.
