Yea, the Ranger engine cover is shitty, but it is cheap to buy and dampens the sound of the HPFP, injectors, and valvetrain.
I have one as well. I guess I need to open my hood more and admire its bland looks.

Well since a bunch of you are asking for

Great post. This is the reason I bought mine. I couldn't have said it better

Mine has a slight leak at the rear main seal. It started before I found out there was a TSB on this. Unless it becomes a horrible problem I won't take it to the dealer. So far, no oil added between changes and Blackstone reports look good

Once I changed to the breather the leak almost went away
Could you share a link to the TSB for main seal leak?

I remember seeing it back then, but can't find it now

Oil leak has been the same, minimal

Maybe someone else will chime in for the TSB

UPR makes a remote vent system too although it's for the Mustang:

No clue if this adapts to our Rangers.
Dang. If that works in the ranger I would switch mine out. I have to change a sweat band every month or so because of so much oil spit

Same here with the sweatbands

I get the multicolor 24 pack from Amazon so it's always a party under the hood

Today I emailed UPR about cobbling together something like this for our Rangers - they sell most all of the components so here is their immediate response - note the dimensions of the can:
Yes, whenever a one way breather is used on an ecoboost engine the escaping crankcase pressure vapor will carry oil mist and moisture with it which will eventually saturate the filter. Some engines will put out more than others.

As far as the one way breather tank, It could work, and I will have to see what would be needed to make a kit. The can used in the EcoBoost Mustang has a one way valve in it so it is not a standard breather can.

I'm not sure where a 3" x 9" can will fit under the hood of a Ranger, but I'm sure we could figure it out.

The filter would need to be cleaned very often on the valve cover mounted one way breather ( regardless of brand ). One of the problems is the oil fill sits right above one of the camshaft followers and gets a ton of splash.
I would expect an oil separator like in their catch can would leave oil in the vent can?

I hope that is the point of the can. Otherwise, you could just route the vent somewhere else and skip the can.

I don't see one that states it fits 2021 Ranger. Which one are you guys using?

It doesn't specifically exist for the Ranger although the Mustang Ecoboost has it. I see a potential benefit even for our stock - not heavily modified engines (like the catch can) since our turbocharged motors are high compression with low friction piston rings (if I read that correctly). This application is a proposal and I'm looking for input

It would be interesting if the can in that application catches anything.

The primary thing that would justify adding to the complexity of the system above functionality is NOT getting oily spray all over the engine bay. The cost could be at least two and a half times the one way breather cap by itself while functionally an extension of a catch can.

I could be wrong but allowing an engine to 'breathe' fuel and oil fumes into the air probably violates emissions regulations. Isn't that the purpose of PCV system?
