The billet body unscrews. Here's a pic of the filter:

Quick bump for this thread for us early adopters. UPR has designed an upgraded separator for those of us with what is now the 'older' design. About $30.

On top of that, the new dual vac setup (on sale right now) has a no drill Clean Side Separator valve t fitting that looks like a stock install.

I kinda like the original drill setup more than the new one. Does anyone have an old version they want to part with? I currently have a single valve kit.

@Racket are you sure that new separator works with the ranger kit? The "from this to this" photo on their webpage does not look like the picture you tagged for the current filter design.

I'm not sure about old vs. new on the can but I'll just have to call them. I think what I have can be easily updated as far as the secondary vacuum - and if they've improved the cc I'd explore how to do that. After I bought the single vac original I paid less than $100 to get the secondary.

I guess what I have isn't broken.

The newer version still uses the same can design, with the holy aluminum discs and stuff.

Ugh... I keep going back and forth on purchasing / installing this kit based on the difficulty with installation, cost, and maintenance. I also just think about the thousands of Rangers out there without the kid. But I have used separators on a few of previous vehicles. Hmm...

Have you done due dillegence and read thru all 58 pages of the mega thread - "catch can yes or no ? " If so and you are still lucid it's probably as clear as those muddled pics of catch can contents that folks are more than happy to post. Maybe a coin flip ?

I'm all for doing mods but really, we already have an Oil Seperator system on our trucks, Coking valves is not shaping up to be a Huge problem on Ranger 2.3s, and I'm kinda lazy, so think I be continuing to sit this one out..

It's a free country, you buy your truck you do with it what you want (within the law ?).

I bought a Magnaflow exhaust in part for the looks, the sound, maybe a hint of performance but justified that I won't be faced with replacing it beyond the manufacturer warranty.

Same with the catch can. The factory system is adequate for the warranty but not optimal. I keep my vehicles for more than 100,000 miles unless they are total lemons (or totalled ☹).

Could make the argument for the intercooler and charge pipes but those deals were attractive at that time.
