This is how I mounted my front. Modified the plastic cover for the wires to tuck behind and then up there under the roof cubby.

OK, that looks like a better spot than what the Ford install was showing. Keeps the unit out of direct sun. Only issue is I think the sunshade will prevent parking footage of being any use if someone hits it parked.

Just add a hole for camera and good to go!

That is the camera I'm thinking about getting for my Ranger since it's one of the options from Ford.
The cam was great and had really great clarity. I always left it in my truck but I guess baking in the sun when I was at work was to much for it. I would get the extended warranty just in case.

Thanks for the link Bill. Honestly I don't care if the headrests don't match perfectly I just like the tilting rear ones.

One more question if you don't mind? I'm taking the engine cover and I know you need to take the screws/nuts but does it just screw right into the top of the head? I wanna make sure I bring everything to the shop and take it all in one trip.

Yeah, the tilting rear headrests were a most for me!.....otherwise they almost completely block the rear window and obstructs the view.....not safe IMO.

All you need is the engine cover and the bolts/nuts and you're good to go......my mechanic installed it in 2 minutes.....

WOW!, this just shows us all that shit happens and can happen to the best of us!

Glad YOU are OK, as that's the most important. Hoping that all works out in your favor, with the new white Tremor. Who knows, maybe (and just maybe), you'll be happy enough with it, that you won't need to get the 6G RR after all ...

Just another angle on this unfortunate inconvenience.

Take care and all the best.

You folks crack me up. Like vultures picking on a carcass. Dave is working with the adjuster and what he/she says goes… generally speaking, when an insurance company totals your truck, they have essentially paid you for it. Got some aftermarket items on it, sometimes you can take them other times not depending on endorsements. You can’t take things like headrests, seats, mirrors etc.. that is part of salvage value insurance companies use to sell and make up the loss they paid out. Again it depends on the company and individual adjusters, but as a rule of thumb, once they pay you out, that truck ain’t yours anymore. Sounds like Dave really is getting taken care of, which is great, just wanted to put it out there for the rest of you in case your truck gets totaled. Keep the screwdriver and wrench in your pocket :)

Thanks Rob! Yes shit happens in a blink of an eye that's for sure. As much as I want the RR I think if this truck treats me well I might just stick with it. It's almost paid for now (only reason I never paid it off is I have a 0% loan) and by the looks of it I shouldn't have to much out of pocket costs with the new one. The replacement value on my policy sure was a big money saver and I should have the final numbers tomorrow. I 'm still on a few dealers list for a RR so I'll see what happens and what the price is but I'm starting to thing it's going to be shocking. :surprised:

lol This is what we do here and I'm sure I'd be doing the same if the shoe were on the other foot. ?

For clarity my total loss adjuster told me Friday to get over to the body shop Monday morning to get anything that was left in the truck. I had taken most of my stuff the day of the accident because I know how those tow yards are and most stuff would've been gone. I asked about accessories and he said yes, take them all off. It's getting towed as is and the truck has been stripped down so much with parts thrown all in the bed and back seat I doubt they'll know if anything small was taken. They'll probably think it was broken and thrown out.

I never looked back here on Friday so I don't even know if the taillights are back there somewhere. I just hope my bed extender is still there or they'll be paying more for that.

You are golden, got a great adjuster and things are going to be just fine.

It is so funny if you think about all the hand detailing, measuring of seams, stress about fuel in the oil, tires, wheels etc and in an instant, right by home, it all ends. Nobody loves your truck as much as you do, it comes down to its value in whole or parts. You will love the next one just as much, we will all get to see a new photo in your profile picture and while familiar will not feel the same as that slice of Orange we are all used to. Physical things are just stuff, friendships matter, and on this site you have hundreds, it is all good, life lessons for all. Carry on.

I was going to message you the other day for some advise because nothing seemed to be going right. My claims agent was useless and it wasn't until the claims adjuster got to the body shop that I started getting answers. The total loss adjuster I spoke with today was an awesome guy and went through everything with me. I guess there's another loss adjuster that handles all the final numbers and he said I should hear from him Monday.

Yes that's exactly what he said, seeing as it was her fault and her insurance company (State Farm) accepted blame mine (Travelers) will go after them to recoup the money and my deductible. Now I just have to make sure they don't ding my insurance for this. He said even though it'll be recorded as a no fault some companies can/will raise your rates.
Dave, sorry to hear about the accident but really glad to hear no one was injured. Back in 2017, I t-boned a Prius in my Rav4 where the Prius driver pulled out of a parking lot and tried to cross 3 lanes of traffic without even seeing me. She was cited and I was not. Still, it took Liberty Mutual (her insurance company) almost 3 weeks to accept liability for the accident. After the first week of Liberty Mutual dragging their feet on this, I got pissed off and called Progressive (my insurance company). This turned out to be a huge mistake on my behalf. The good was that Progressive took care of repairing my car. Now the bad... Since my son was in an accident a few months prior, they claimed that we filed two accident claims within 6 months and dropped us. They did payout $3k on my sons accident, but they were fully compensated by Libert Mutual for my accident. I called to complain, but was told that even though they were fully compensated, I had still filed a claim. After that incident, I think the only way I would ever bring my own insurance company in would be if I'm at fault or the dollar amount that I'm responsible for high enough to justify filing a claim.

Some people will do anything to attract attention, a real man would still be driving that truck.

That is true for car damages given the incident based pricing with most companies. If you or anyone in your car is injured, in that case you should report to your insurance company right away, there may be coverages on your policy that can help.

Sorry to hear about your truck & that you are ok Dave. That don't look like what I meant to say. Glad your ok & sorry about the truck that's better. A little late to the party but it took me 3 days to read all the posts, now I'm cross eyed. Anyway strip it at night that'll make you feel better. Good luck with your new adventure.
