Need some help from the electrical gurus. My turn signal flashes super fast on the dash like a bulb is out. All the bulbs on the outside of the truck are fully functional and flash at normal speed. I have not ever seen this before. Think it's the flasher?

Did you upgrade the front turn signals to LEDs?

Yup, sounds like hyper flash with LEDs. Easy fix in Forscan. Had to do it in mine when I put my switchbacks in.

I don't have LED'S
OK, and all the lights are working! I'm not sure there is a blinker, flashing may be controlled in the BCM. Are both sides flashing fast in the dash?

Yes. Seems to be only when the outside temp is above 85 or so

I get the hyper flash inside the truck with the front LEDS Installed but they flash outside in the normal slow pattern So I just ignore the sound.

Mine was doing that after I changed to LEDs, went into ForScan and made the recommended change. Flashes normally now..

I don’t have ForScan but that would be great to do. Thanks for the info.

You might have done this but in the center info message center display there is an option to change timing rate or flash rate on the turning signals.

Please explain where you found this. I find nothing like this in any of my center display screens. Is it something you turned on in Forscan? Does it also affect outside flash rate?

Sorry about that.
I was thinking of FORScan setting.
A senior moment.

Ever since I took my Ranger in for that taillight harness recall, I have dealt with intermittent instances of the right turn signal flashing fast on the dash. The left signal has been fine. Even with the fast flash, all the exterior lights work properly. All of them. The dealer indicated they had to see it happening versus me showing the a video of it. I left it with them for a week and it never acted up. As soon as I picked up the vehicle, left the dealer and made a right hand turn, it started fast flashing. And was continuous fast flash ever since.

I emailed the General Manager and told him that if his team could not fix it, then I had no recourse but to contact Ford. He was all over it. I left the truck with the dealer on Monday of this week. They called me today to say they swapped out a turn signal bulb and that didn't fix it. Will assume they were referring to the front bulb versus the rear light assembly.

Now Ford wants them to do an extensive tear down of the electrical components on the right side. SMH. The only thing I have added to the truck was the bed lights. They are tied into the cargo light wire and ground on a major ground connection. I cannot foresee that being the culprit, but I'll have to wait and see what happens. I never had the issue (even with bed lights installed) prior to that recall for the rear lights/harness. Betting that is where the issue is.

Hey Steve,

Do you remember if that recall was only for Lariats? I have an XLT and didn’t receive a notice.

Thanks.

Duke,

Can't remember if it applied to a particular trim level. I am thinking it did not. I know it was driven by production runs and specific VIN numbers that were being checked. Mine happened to make the list.
