No, they serve the same kind of purpose as the ridges on the hood--they disrupt the airflow for a calculated result, probably in this case reducing drag. If they were stiffeners like old school corrugated steel they wouldn't just be on the trailing edge.
For whatever purpose they serve on the SCREW they aren't on the SCAB.
