What everyone is saying. In Drive or Sport lockout higher gears before you see incline coming and keep RPM around 2K and you’ll be a happy camper
What a difference, works perfect now!
I guess these 10 speeds really take some getting used to.

That, and a 10 speed really doesn't belong in a 4 cylinder! :) I just drive in 8th all the time.

Thanks for the help everyone, I’m glad my truck isn’t messed up. Will try to lock out 9th, and 10th gear today.
I think something is wrong with these trucks that do this. My whole truck vibrates when when I start rolling into the throttle around 2k rpm with a load on the engine. It feels like the engine is missing but the rpm needle seems to stay smooth. Could be a trans or torque converter issue. My 17 and 19 2.0EB never did this. None of my 5.0's did either, one of which was a 10speed.

That's really not a comparison . . .

Sure if you wanna get overly technical about it. Point is none of the 25+ vehicles I've owned in my life have done this except a Honda crv with 160k miles with a known torque converter issue, and my 21 Ranger with 3k miles on it.

There is definitely something wrong there with your truck.

Should not be doing that at all.

I'm definitely struggling with the trans programming. Its designed specifically to upshift aggressively to support fuel consumption. But as the engine lugs like crazy at 1000-1500 rpm, low speed operation is challenging without smashing the throttle to get the truck moving.

I'm going to try the Ford tune to see if it helps. But driving in NJ traffic is unpleasant with it constantly trying to upshift at low speed.

1000 rpm is basically the rpm the truck idles at when stopped. You do eventually have to give the truck some gas….

In my experience 2000 rpm mostly eliminates any lugging.
yep, 8th gear and 2000 rpm. Lets say 60mph and under. Over that, seems ok unless you see a hill or incline. highway can stay in 10th @ 2000

I like to call it the Tiptronic Dance. I probably use the +/- button 100 or so odd times each time I drive the truck. Coming from only manuals my whole life, I suppose this is what I've gotten myself into. It's annoying but apparently can be completely remedied with a tune. My VW GTI buddy has said the same thing of the DSG. Just the way it is.
