Transmission - Lubeguard

I recently had my transmission worked on by the dealer (I believe they replaced the CDF Drum), and have been reading some posts about using Lubeguard Platinum to help keep further problems from developing. The problem is that while I can do basic maintenance (brakes, I installed a Brake Controller, etc), I have not a clue what to do with a transmission. I read that too much fluid is worse than low fluid, so I am concerned about adding anything, but I don't even know how I would know exactly how much fluid is in there. And if I have to pull out some fluid, how do I do that?

Is this the recommended product?

Can anyone help out by giving some easy to follow guidelines and instructions? Thanks so much!!

Yes that's the product. You can instal a Fitz-Stick which is very easy to do and there's a video where you can follow step by step directions. Then check your fluid level and if you need to take some out you can use a pump like this one here. This will make you transmission run better and will be easier to check the levels with the Fitx-Stick.

Without the Fitzstick (Mike's stick) you've got to perform all of this via the OEM transmission access port which designed seemingly by necessity and not for actual ease of access. The Extended Transmission dipstick allows you to use the dipstick tube a filling tube and perform this procedure from the engine bay. A much more comfortable proposition in my opinion.

I’m going to change my filter and add the Fitz-stick plus Lubeguard as soon as it arrives. I’m at 84k miles with a tune and tow frequently and once a year over 1500 miles. Figured it’s definitely time to change the filter and fluid so it keeps shifting smoothly. So far I havent had any tranny issues at all. But I’m not gonna lie, I’m at the mileage where I’m getting nervous lol.

Hope so. I did the pan drop filter change and replaced 8 quarts about 8-9 months ago. Doing 6 quart change this weekend and adding lube guard. Fingers crossed lube guard and all its talk helps mine.

I went to harbor freight and got a siphon kit, opened the fill plug / dip stick hole on the side of the transmission and pulled out 10 ounces of fluid. Used a funnel and the hose to pour in 10 onces of the lubegard platinum and put it back together. ( I used an empty 12 oz water bottle to hold the old trans fluid 9/10th of the way full, put the old oil in the recycle bottle and filled the bottle to the same level with the lube guard and poured it into a funnel attached to the hose back into the transmission fill hole) Does it shift smoother? A bit but I also now let the truck "warm up" for two minutes before moving. Warm up - just a term to allow the fluid to flow in the transmission. I live in Florida so very few days are cold.

You'll also be able to check the fluid level routinely and not burn your hand off. It is def worth it.

So, your gonna let a dealer or some other shop change your fluid....and your gonna believe that the right amount of fluid was added ???? Without any way of checking ????

If thats the case, then maybe I can sell you this bridge I own free and clear in Ca....used to be called Golden Gate Bridge, but I renamed it to Grumpy's Crossing.....
