Update 4/20/26 I brought the truck back to the Ford Dealership decided they are gonna replace the TCM module hopefully that fixes the jolt when coming down to a complete stop it started happening again also noticed that when I throw it into neutral and does it also. Like people mentioned maybe the Slip yoke needs to be greased but hey let's them replace everything till they figure it out 😅

also google JXB carrier. Zero clunks, minor vibration around 40mph but they are sending me some various bushings to try. Downside of being one of the firsts to try it. But it is on sale. Doesn’t lurch when putting it in drive or clunk when slowing down.

Thanks, hopefully I get a few more transmission upgrades before they figure out what it is. I got a rental from them so I got time.

Just picked up a used Ranger. It’s still under warranty, but I’m getting a weird jolt from the transmission when I’m slowing down or stopping at a light. It feels exactly like something heavy sliding in the bed and hitting the back of the cab. Anyone else dealt with this?
Lube your driveshaft slip joint with motorcraft PTFE lubricant. Very common problem.

Just got an update from the Ford service advisor. After dropping the pan, they found metal shavings in the transmission oil. Because of that, they’ve recommended a full transmission rebuild along with a TCM (Transmission Control Module) replacement. The repairs are under the used car warranty which it will be covered free of cost
Do you guys think the rebuild and new TCM will solve the 'clunk' feeling I get when slowing down for a red light, or is that more likely the classic slip yoke needing grease?

It’s hard to say , it may be a combination of both or only the transmission, where I am confused is - the US Ranger does not have a TCM , trans control is via the PCM and even then I cannot see a PCM replacement for your issue.

The newest transmission is butter smooth. My wife’s expedition has one that is 8 months old. Never felt a 10r80 this nice. Like they finally figured it out. Guess that means I might be looking at number 3 for the truck in the next 70k.

Since you said earlier that it does it in neutral, then I would think that that rules out the transmission. But it wouldn't rule out a binding driveshaft slip yoke.

Looks like you got all the goodies. CDF drum, Trash can and valve body. You “should “ be good to go

Curious, does anybody know if a 2019 Ranger has passed TSB 25-2134 or all have failed due to the old style CDF drum?
