Hard Transmission Downshift Feels Like Getting Rearended

Wonder how many miles you have on your truck now? And what was the build date? Wondering if it might smooth out after 1000 miles or so - the transmission is supposed to "learn".

Im at 42000 miles on my 19 Ranger Lariat and mine is doing exactly what is happening here on hills, today even. Drives great around town, hilly terrain south of me is teeth-clenching anticipating a jerky hard shift.

Go have it looked at now. Mine just started shuddering on cold start. 2019 Lariat with 68k. Just got the diagnosis... transmission is toast and needs to be replaced. Warranty of course is 5 year 60k. I have had it 4 years and 6 months and hit 60k in July of last year. I just got the quote to have it replaced.... 9k.
