Let us know how it goes. I don't think too many have done this yet due to price?? I know there is an initial "calibrating" the fluid level, but everything else seems straightforward.
Well, if you've seen my truck, you know that this isn't really expensive at all for me, LOL!

Here's the one I saw. Starting around the 39 minute he talks about the hot an cold levels.

you were at 4-5? or adjusted to 4-5?

Did anyone notice the temperature range they want the fluid at to check the level? Mine barely gets that hot drive around with a load. Never got much more towing my camper in 100+ heat. Only reason it even get that high is because it uses the coolant to heat the transmission.

Glad you found the PID. I have found the trans temp to be my limiting factor when pushing my tuned Ranger. A couple of 3 or 4 good hits get that temp up around 210 and then it just doesn't perform on the low end until she cools off a bit. Our trans coolers are small but seem to be pretty efficient. I would install a bigger, aftermarket cooler
You do realize that the transmission is suppose to run at that temp. The fluid temp is suppose to be between 208F and 215F when you check the level.

Yes sir, I believe we can get to about 230F without issue. I'm thinking 220F is where I want to stay below. Once I heat up to 210F, it can get up to that 220F mark pretty quick. I have noticed a definite degradation in performance with transmission temps above 210F. That is why I use the numbers I do when discussing trans temps and running my Ranger in competition mode.... ;)

I agree with you on the transmission temps. Even though the transmission is set for a normal range and the fluid can take up to 250°F a transmission that runs cooler always lasts longer. If you haven't already I would get the pan from PPE as it gives functional cooling fins to help control the transmission temp.

Nice they raised the price on that dipstick. Now it's $250! Worth $50 at most. I was gonna do that and the pan but at this point it's better to just pay the dealer.
