Any harm in adding another magnet in the PPE pan? You would need to use an epoxy to hold in place but I think it’s a good idea.

Certainly won't hurt especially since Automatic Transmissions should have a magnet in the pan for any unwanted debris.

I was actually thinking the same thing....especially if there is a way to remove the magnet from the OE pan. But then thought about trying to get it squeaky clean to glue to the new pan.
Now ya got me wondering about just buying a new magnet and epoxying it the my Mish pan.
What do you think the best magnet would be the way to go ???

Hard drive magnets are super strong. Let two snap together and they're not easy to separate. I kept one attached to the outside of our '94 Jeep GC ZJ metal trans pan.

Epoxied one to the oil drain pan of my air-cooled VW, hasn't moved in 7 or 8 years its been there. Used brake cleaner to get a clean surface to epoxy it to. Picks up plenty of 'dust' from the oil even with an oil filter installed. Which they didn't originally come with btw.

Why need another magnet?
That and the one in the filter should be plenty, right?

When I changed the fluids in both my diffs & transfer case, there was so much metal dust in the fluids that the magnet in the plug was no longer collecting any more metal. All three had collected their maximum. The fluids looked like grey milk.The drain plug is magnetic.

I've always been proponent of putting magnets on all my filters (car, lawnmower, snow blower) and if no filter then on or near the drainplug someplace. When I bought my used Ranger it didn't even dawn on me to throw an extra magnet on the diffs & transfer case. Who would of thought that mess was waiting for me!?
For what it's worth also, I no longer trust the suggested drain intervals in any owner's manual!!
