Has anyone found any tie downs that mount along the top of the bed rail. I did some research and could not find anything that will work. Would love to have the kind that recesses into the bed rail. I know on full size trucks they usually have knockouts along the ridge that they go into, but the Ranger does not.

And I'm NOT talking about the missing tie downs. :)

Did you get these and install them on your truck? I recently had a need fo something like this, the load, 4x8 sheets of ply wood, would not let me get to the ones in the bed.

I should get them Tuesday. I'll install them same day as I need them to hold down a kayak for a trip on Wednesday. I'll post when I I install with a photo.

I assume you had to drill through the top of the bed - thought the top plastic and metal?

Thanks Chris, looks good. How was it drilling through the bed cap and top rail? What size hole is required?

Very easy. Just make sure where you drill you have access underneath. If you go back to far back you will be inside a hollow panel

Yes. Drilled right through easy. I put some silicone on the holes before I mounted and inserted screws.

These worked great. I used some 1/4” thick by 1 1/2” aluminum striping under rail, drilled hole large as holes on cleats. Touch up painted bolts/nuts.

Looks great. I since removed them and added this instead.
Wanted to store my folding eE-bikes inside without worrying about getting to them stolen.

I have one of those vinyl rooftop bag carriers I wanted to strap down on top of my BakFlip G2 cover. I kept reading how rail tie downs were IMPOSSIBLE on the Ranger… until I stumbled upon this thread. I ordered these cleats and installed today. Super easy. Nothing too heavy will go in the bag- perhaps duffel bags of clothes, a broken down plastic dog crate etc. we just needed a bit more cargo space for some of the trips we do.

I plan to grab a 36x48 or 48x48 thin rubber mat to pad between the bag and the bed cover to keep it from wearing the finish. Think thin grippy toolbox drawer liner material…
