Since this is currently at a very nice group buy price, I am seriously considering getting it.

It looks like it will easily clear the sunvisors on our Ranger (a common complaint with Wranglers is that it blocks the sunvisors).

But my main question is what about the sensor in the face of the stock rearview mirror?

Does the Wolfbox automatically dim like the factory mirror?

Thanks!

I don't think the WB has an auto dim feature as I remember someone removed theirs and went back to OEM for that very reason. I'll see if I can find the post.

*Edit: found it.

Excellent work. Especially the stealth wiring above the mirror. So much better that the route I chose. Even more so now that I'm going to remove my Wolfbox in February and re-install the factory OEM mirror. I loved my factory auto-dimming RVM too much to see it sitting on a shelf. But I still want my Wolfbox readily accessible as a dash cam and an off-road recording device. I just don't want it as my full time RVM. So,,, I'm collaborating with Bulletpoint and Wolfbox on 2 new mounts using the Bulletpoint RubiGrid as the mounting surface. I'm hoping that location works the way I want.

Dennis,

The visors are not an issue.

I don’t know if there is an auto dim feature but you can use voice commands to turn the monitor off and just use it’s mirror finish, which is a bit dimmer than the OEM mirror.

Here’s what I wrote in my review thread about the camera/sensor housing.

“Some folks have commented on how the mirror dashcam view is partly blocked by the Ranger's pre-collision system cover on the right hand side of the screen. That's really a Ranger issue more than a product design issue. It doesn't seem to block much that you might want to use forensically and if folks are relying on it to see where they're going, they really should be looking out the windshield.”

A link to my install thread is in the review thread and also in my signature.
