I’ve got a 2021 XLT.. it’s got 91,000km…

between the stupid things going wrong with the truck, and my experience thus far with Ford service has me wanting to trade up…

I love the truck. But I don’t want to pay to fix things once I’m out of warranty. (Bought extended bumper to bumper to match factory 100,000km power train warranty)

My Ranger has been in the shop more times than the last 3 vehicles I’ve had combined.. power windows… rear window seals.. struts… a control arm.. EGR issues… All the body panels are out of whack, not a huge deal but it’s pretty bad… I’m function over fashion but NOTHING lines up… I’m having HVAC issues… severe clicking… and of course the techs can never replicate at a note of $40 a time just to listen…. I don’t want to get stuck with that repair after my warranty…

and now today my tailgate won’t open. It’s the passenger side latch.. pretty sure the rod to the handle broke…

WTF!

its 2 years old! Bought it October of 2021!!!

what’s next!?

am I the only one?

and my last oil change the tech forgot to put the filler cap on and oil blew all over my engine… I got my money back but Jesus…

I want to keep the truck because I need it for its off road capabilities.. it’s very good off road.. better than my Tacoma was.. the ability to lock my rear diff at any time is big for me.. and the truck crawls and is smoother than the Toyota…

but that damn Toyota was never in the shop more than 2 times in 160k for an actual problem..

talk me down!
i say dump it and get another truck.

Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble.
If you're mechanically inclined and care to dig into it, it looks like 10 screws to remove the inner tailgate cover and take a peek.
I'd be interested in seeing some pictures and share what you find.

I took delivery of the truck at night and I’m not one to be really picky about body lines and panel alignment… I did t notice how bad it actually was till down the road. I still don’t really care it’s just not a sign of decent quality control. Almost every panel is out of whack somewhere…

And so the saga continues…..??‍♂

I’ve been trying to figure out this rattle coming from the back of the truck… I thought it was the E brake cable junction so I zip tied all the lines tight… Didn’t work..

so I come out of work and as I’m going around the back of the truck I see muffler packing hanging out of my tail pipe… so I pulled it out and I could hear metal in the pipe. Behold… the rattle. So I cut the tail pipe off to see if I could fish the piece out and this was what I discovered…

A portion of the perforated steel in the resonator rotted and broke off falling into the tail pipe with a big chunk of packing.

I can’t believe this happened already. It’s a 2021! I’ve never had an exhaust fail on anything in all the truck I’ve had.

Something tells me my extended warranty won’t cover this.

Touch wood I’m at 88,000km and no issues so far. Shitty you’re going through this. We’ll see this summer as we’re moving across the country to Nova Scotia towing a trailer.
That’s one heck of a drive, especially with a trailer - give us a wave as you pass by Onterrible.

You and @Canadian Ranger will be Amsoil neighbours!

So I went out this morning and the rest of the packing came out…. I had a 10 ft string of it flapping g behind me on the highway… lol

I got home and fished the rest out and welded on the piece I cut off last night into a rear exit turn down. Sort of an off road style. This allowed me to do my spring cleaning of the spare and a quick rust spray in spots.

That will do for now.

Mine is a 2019 Lariat and has never been to the shop for mechanical misfunctions, just normal maintenance and (abnormal) modifications. I'm not bragging, I know it is just dumb luck...
