Just checked out the Jeep pickup, guess what, tailgate assist, I thought it was pretty cool, I want the tailgate assist.
For 60k, it better be a Hootoers waitress opening the tailgate to reveal free wings and beer.

Tailgate assist is still a waste of money.

If a Hooters waitress wants to get in my truck I will gladly slowly ( so she doesnt get scared) lower the tailgate and and watch while she climbs in.:p

Has anyone found an aftermarket power assist for the sliding rear window? The window is not very useful in a supercrew and probably not in a supercab either.

You can reach the latch in the SuperCab. I like it.

Ok, I have never been in a SuperCab so I wasn't sure. I've been wondering if anyone has checked out using the parts from an F150 in the Ranger but the slider may be a different size. That might be a worthwhile mod.

Moving from a 2019 ZR2 into the Ford I can tell you what I miss.
  • Storage under the rear seat.
  • There is also a pocket under each side of the seat that lets you store items and retrieve them without needing to lift the rear seat. That was actually very convenient!
  • Home button on the radio. I like to switch between Android Auto and the built-in to change input or station. ZR2 had a home button but in my Lariat I have to hit the power button twice real fast.
  • This is more personal preference but I liked the volume and forward/back controls for the radio behind the steering wheel. Like shift paddles but they controlled the radio. Super convenient I loved it!
  • Tailgate assist
  • Off road suspension and aptitude. Ford is really nice but we're fooling ourselves if we think it can hang with the clearance and locking front/rear diff. and those DSSV multimatics.
  • Again personal preference but I really think as nice as the Sync system is the Chevy Infotainment 3 system and interface is far superior. It's so much faster and the layout is like you're using a tablet. I liked it better but again this is personal preference.
  • Auto-up/down window for every door.
  • The ability to turn on my back seat heater and leave the rear-end off.

Things I don't miss:
  • Transmission problems
  • Leaky rear window
  • Creeking rear suspension
  • Dim headlights
  • Pedal sluggishness and inconsistency.
  • Transmission shudder
  • Rattles and vibrations everywhere...like everywhere! Dashboard, door panel, b-pillar. Ugh!
  • The sound of rushing water behind passenger side dash
  • Weird Window defect that made everything look "wavey" outside.
  • Storage. Door storage is a no-go. All those pockets and bottle holders are too small to actually be useful for anything. They suck, all of them. Period.
  • Plastic everywhere, the interior just felt cheap.
  • Steering wheel was small and the wrap felt cheap
  • Hard cheap door plastic means I couldn't find a comfortable place to rest my arm while driving
  • Rock sliders. Seriously they look nice but there is no step bars you can put on that allow you to keep the sliders. I'm sure those are more useful in places but Florida? We have mud, not rocks...
  • That shift handle. My bodybuilder legs would constantly hit the +/- and manually shift the truck. This was in large part because they put the shift handle next to the driver and put the cup holders near the passenger.
  • Rubber on steering wheel and keyfob. Sorry but I have my doubts as to how long either will last.
  • Lack of footwell space. My foot on the pedal would constantly rub against the side. Hated it.
  • The plastic around the bottom of the front seats which overtime fray the outside of the leather seats and the stitching. Mine was so new I never had the issue but it was a big complaint on the forums.
  • I had the blackout package with black bowtie's on the outside. But a gold one on the steering wheel....stupid.
  • Having to take my key out of my pocket to start it
  • Having to carry around my ugly garage door opener. Homelink is awesome!

Those are a few I can rattle off the top of my head. I can say I'm so much happier in the Ranger than I was in the Colorado. Time will tell but it was worth taking the hit trading in a brand new 4x4 Chevy for a brand new 2x4 Ford.

There is a Home button on the steering wheel in the XLT, not sure why they omit that on the Lariat.

That's scary a 2019 ZR2 has so many issues despite being so new!

While I agree that in terms of sheer off-road capability, the FX4 is no match for the ZR2, the simple truth is it's an unworthy comparison, like comparing a 1500 Z71 with a Raptor.

I looked long and hard at the ZR2 in my decision process. The extra $10k for it was one turn off. More to the point, though, I can't think of a use case for such an offroader for me. The FX4 is probably overkill for what I usually do, but the bash plate and trail armor were entirely worth it to me.

After living with my Ranger for a week now, I can say the only thing missing is the ignition switch bezel... seriously, WTF Ford. Then again, I'm easy to please, and the most advanced vehicle I've ever owned is a toss-up between my wife's '13 Tacoma, and her previous vehicle, an '07 MDX.

Im sure the aftermarket will provide an option but the top tailgate plastic is too soft, Ive loaded only a lawnmower and have scratches from do so.

Can’t wait to replace this with metal or aluminum guard.

That flat floor in my F150 was awesome. I hauled my 55 inch flat screen home back there in the winter!

Based off your list, I would add that a 6' bed option would have been nice on the crew cab to compete with Tacoma, Canyon, and Colorado. Also, very disappointed in the rear seat configuration, it is not class leading in room, lacks 60/40 split, no flat-floor fold up rear seats, poor under-seat storage, and no flat load deck when top half of seats fold down.

I think people sometimes overestimate the value of a front locker and underestimate that of terrain management. The more I use TM the more impressed I am with it.

to me its missing handle bars to climb in and out of he ranger, I would be nice to have them on the pillar instead of the head area. For older people the pillar will be a good spot.
