I had to look it up. ?

So Capital Murder suspects are being released because they are thought to be basically a good person?

Not going to get into the politics of it but a recent election removed all of the judges from a certain party and replaced them all, everyone of them in Harris County, with judges from the other party. Crime rate is way up. Murder rate is over double normal. So yes, only the good citizens of Harris County are being arrested and therefore released on OR bond.

You know it's bad when the DA who is from the ruling party in Harris County calls out the judges from the same party about issuing bond.

Not getting political, just reporting the facts.

With all the crime trends going up it's a weird time to "defund" the police. I bet the same party that's letting criminals off want to defund our police.

But if we can get rid of the good cops then we can hire ones that will unquestioning follow our unconstitutional orders.
OOPS. Did I say that out loud?

Probably shouldn't be saying this.... but here goes, MY theory is that the end goal is to completely federalize all law enforcement in the future for that reason. Thank God I'll be long out of the game by that time.

In Texas we have the right to use deadly force to prevent theft at your home or in your vehicle. Not saying I would to stop a vehicle theft, but if it comes down to it, smoke-’em if you got ‘em.
If they try to steal anything from your home or driveway, you can use deadly force to stop them. No threat of bodily harm required.
Texas law allows a person to use deadly force to protect themselves in their home or vehicle. Therefore, the Castle Doctrine only applies if you were in your vehicle when someone tries to steal your car. For instance, say someone tries to carjack you at a red light or in a parking lot after getting into your vehicle.
I’m a Texan too and under no circumstance do you “smoke” any loser just because they are a loser. None.

You should understand that if you shoot at someone they may shoot back and it may happen months later.

While I feel the loss of privacy is unacceptable you do not shoot someone for breaking a window or violating your space. If they take PII, banking information, or family items you have a tough choice to make.

If they threaten you or someone else with loss of life, limb, or eyesight, then take the shot.

if they break into your house, call the police then go into your bedroom, shut the door and wait. It is inevitable that they will try to enter your room. If the police haven’t arrived once they force the door open, feel free to defend yourself using deadly force.

Once the police arrive, never greet them with any kind of weapon.

Yeah that'll never happen. If some breaks into my house they'll be eating lead. That's like saying if your house is on fire call the fire dept and stay inside.

Besides, they've been warned before entering.:stop:

That’s how you guarantee that a jury will determine if you go to prison based on the skill of the lawyer you can afford.

The other way there is no question.

I'll take my chances. I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6 any day. YMMV

Few things make me as envious as this. Here in Canada we have the right to call 911, and run away. If cornered we can fight back only using the lowest force available to stop the threat. We give criminals more rights than victims up here and it sickens me.

I remember a Texas man calling 911 to report thieves in his neighbours house, telling the 911 operator if they come out before cops get here, I'm gonna stop them. They did, and he went after them, shot them both in the back or side/back as they were running away, and was acquitted of all charges.

Like you I'm not saying I'd be plugging every thief, but the legal advantage should always go to the home owner, not the criminal. The ability to defend your home/family/possessions should be undeniable, in particular on your own property.

I would hope Canadians don't think this is usually what happens in the US, or even in the Southern US because its not. I you shoot someone in the back, for any reason, you are going up on charges 99.9% of the time.

He was charged and went to court which resulted in a full acquittal.
