Valid argument. I'm already tuned. I've been lurking on the 6G site for a while now. I haven't specifically searched for trans issues, but they don't seem to pop up as often as here.
Give it time... they are still relatively new. Check back when the fleet has 3-5 years and 50K miles on them. Then you'll get an apples to apples comparison. I don't think Ford has solved the transmissions issues. I think they "bandaided" them.

IMO, There are serious engineering/business objectives that Ford tried to reach that run contrary to each other. Unfortunately, the compromises sacrificed longevity for expediency.

FWIW, I think Ford Engineers are world class, but more often than not, they don't get to make the calls.

I think The Who said it best...."Meet the new boss, same as the old boss"!

It's not IF there's going to be problems with the 10R60 it's WHEN will there be problems with it. Just like the 10R80 post mid 2022 the CDF drum was changed but all the other parts are similar/the same. It's only a matter of time. :clock:đź’Ł

Some pop and rock ages badly, but what a truly timeless song that one is! Well quoted sir.

Maybe Ford should give up on these and just go back to buying autos from ZF, or maybe try Aisin both good reliable brands.
Ford Australia used to buy their autos from BTR Autos a local Australian company, which designed and built an excellent 4 and 5 speed auto box, they went into all locally built Fords.
Then in response to market demand they altered the design to make it six speeds, they went from being one of the best and most reliable boxes you could buy, to one of the worst.
They were superb smooth shifting boxes - until they died, usually about 60,000- 80,000 Km. They also sold boxes to SSangyong in Korea. Warranty claims and the Asian financial crisis sent them bust (SSangyong stopped buying transmissions and went bust themselves) and the factory was bought by the Chinese and shipped to China. They go into Geely cars now.

Ford Australia ended up buying up all the worlds remaining production of the ZF 6HP boxes after ZF switched to 8 speeders, to put into locally built Falcons and Territory SUV's, and later built them under license - the 6R80 which was a pretty reliable box. There's one in my Ranger.

Yep and at the average age here, inability to follow through. Double buyers remorse!
It's the $100 bills hanging out of your pants...

Crazy enough, I can laugh about it now... (as I prepare to tackle the "cooling the transmission fluid temperature" project!).

Still trying to determine the optimal location for the cooler.

I'll go back to 80s on this lol.
Makes me think of MIAMI VICE.
🙋‍♂️ I'll admit it, that was one of my favorite shows and still watch the reruns.

Same. That show I stumbled upon purely by accident. I had just graduated from school and it was during the summer and TV LAND showed what they called a hi ya by ya marathon. They showed the Pilot episode of MIAMI VICE followed by the series finale, where Crockett and Tubbs took out the cartel leader. Then called out the corrupt DEA agent, threw in their badges and drove away in Crocketts stolen white FERRARI Testarrossa.

Then they aired all 5 seasons through the summer. Watched every episode.
