Have to laugh. Went in to dealer where i will (or not) buy my new Ranger to have them look at my trade-in and get the bottom line price. This is a small town and smaller dealer near IA/IL border for whom I drive cars back to the dealership from the two big auction centers in Chicago area. So it just happens that they are doing a dealer trade for a new Ranger with a dealer in the St. Louis area and asked me to do the drive - guess after about 225 miles I should know if it's really, really what I want. :)

It took me about a 1/4 mile from the lot on my test drive to be sold on mine

I have a feeling on mile 224, your face is going to hurt from grinnin' too much.

Keep in mind something magical happens at the 1000 mile mark and then again something appears to happen at the 3000 mile mark.

Okay - so what exactly do you mean? Tired of trying to guess :)

The ecu is tuned for a break in period of 1000 miles, after that, you will notice a significant performance bump, as well as an MPG bump. It may be placebo, but something similar happened to me at the 3000 mile mark as well.

I definitely noticed a change at 1k miles. Didn't notice anything at 3k personally

Not sure if that is supposed to be on all EcoBoost engines, but none of mine really felt different after 1k, 5k, or 10k miles. I'm curious about the Ranger's daily driveability as well and eager to hear the OP's report.
