That excuse for a truck maverick is killing the ranger's sales.

It's all good though, make's the ranger rarer to find on the street and more of a head turner.

I honestly think a lot of the sales problems with the Ranger aren't really a sales problem, they are a supply problem. Ford has prioritized building Broncos over Rangers so the supply is highly constrained. Add in the Maverick and it just compounds the problem.

I really like the ranger but I feel like it hardly gets any support from Ford.

I get the impression that, if they invested too much into the ranger, it would steal sales away from the f150.

Also, Ford is much more eager to supply customers with a maverick or one of the broncos.

The ranger suits my needs best though.

Another thing that probably doesn't help is how rare a 2wd XL/XLT are in some areas. Not everyone needs or wants to throw down tremor or lariat 4x4 money. That is what I typically see when I randomly browse because I never stay in a car long....

I was originally in the market for a Maverick on price, interior space, and needing a bed sometimes, but happy I got more truck for the same price via luck. The XLT 4x2 was still on the transport truck when I rolled in to see about a trade before the Maverick was built.

Fords marketing for the Ranger really stinks. I get that the F150 is their bread and butter but I've never seen a tv commercial for the Ranger. Even back in 2019 when it was coming back to N'America you'd think they'd bomb the airwaves seeing as the Ranger was such a hit before they took it off the market here. Now with all the constraints there's no reason to advertise because they can't keep up as it is.

I work at a ford dealership an overheard a salesman telling a customer on the phone "nobody can get rangers". Usually you tell them anything to get them to stop in an try an sell them something else. It's like ford abandoned the ranger to move more F150's or the cheaper (probably cheaper to build) maverick. With the current political climate ford may favor selling mavericks over rangers to boost their CAFE numbers. I don't want to drive something the size of an F150 so if there wasn't a ranger on the market I'd probably be driving an SUV. I think the Maverick is a good deal for what it is I'm just not sure I'd want to own one. I'd probably get a bronco an a trailer.

i think the fact the Ranger and Bronco are built on the same line is a mistake.
if they paralleled the lines and doubled the workforce ok, but we know how difficult that would have been the last couple years.
The Bronco makes them more profit and the Maverick has the potential for high volume sales.
The Ranger gets left in no mans land

And that my friend is what many of us over here believe, otherwise you could have gotten the current Ranger when we (and most of the rest of the world) did, way back in 2011. We haven't had factory RHD F150's since the 1990's so that wasn't an issue here. I think Ford didn't want to risk that whole "biggest selling model ever made" thing for the F150

When I see old rangers on the roads they look so tiny...

I am sure the Maverick is more profitable for them...

Maybe now that the global and US models have more or less merged, perhaps you could source some from the Thai or SA plants as well as domestic?

Yep! And I like it that way. I finally saw another Ranger Tremor in my area recently. That makes a grand total of 3 Tremors now, including my SIL's. I've seen more F150 Tremors than Ranger Tremors. Crazy the money people will spend on a truck. I'm still amazed at the overall lack of Ranger's I see on the road. And I'm looking for them! More now than in the recent past, but still very few. That said, I'm looking forward to having a truck that isn't seen on every road, every day, every where.

That was part of the reason they discontinued the Ranger in the first place as I recall. Price was creeping into that low end of the F150 as well

Also, with new model due out with 2024-year model, some are holding off on the Ranger purchase to get the newest generation of it.
