I have to laugh everytime I see this thread pop up at the top of the what's new list. Because stance is a very subjective subject. Everyone's view of what looks good is different. There is no "perfect" stance. The word "perfect" is an absolute, meaning there is only one right answer. Someone may think a 3 inch lift, or more, with 3 inches of poke, or more, is best. Personally I think it looks ridiculous. I happen to like the look of my stock FX4 just fine.

Each to their own. Do what you LIKE, and don't worry about what others think or like.

From the internet:

Is it good to stance a car?
Oftentimes, the main purpose of a stanced car project is to achieve an improved visual appeal rather than improved performance characteristics or handling, however some cars combine both.

AND:
What is flush stance?
Flush fitment means that the wheel is pretty much perfectly aligned with the fender. This is by far the most common fitment type from stock, especially for performance-oriented cars.

I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve.
Agree that it's visual (so one could simply bash in the fenders to get the same affect).

From my very limited knowledge, offsets impact bearings, performance, steering, and all that stuff (I have looked into 10mm offsets, just sayin').

Even though we (me too) have stories of car manufacturers doing dumb things, Ford still has a little more experience than I do for what is always more complicated than I imagine.

All that to say - it's your truck, do whatever you want to it. And a big part is how it makes you feel. So if a Carolina Squat makes you smile - go for it!

I feel better having all the crap stuff I've added to mine. But those items have absolutely added weight and diminished gas mileage and performance (even if slight, any addition has some effect).

Go forth and make your Ranger your own! =)

That's a pretty friggin' awesome link - I've never seen that (great, just what I needed from my day job, a fun distraction!). =)

Thanks and that sure is a gorgeous truck!

Thank You... It started life OEM looking :) and I had to change that.

I spent many hours with that link trying to figure out what fits and what doesn't. I couldn't be happier with the end result, this will sound weird, but it drives so much better. Maybe those stock Hancook tires are junk. I dunno. The M14 rims are the lightest 20" rims available and my tire/wheel weight is the same as the stock size (18's for my Lariat). I just got 23 MPG on my last tank, so I lost nothing. Truth be told I did have to replace the crash bars as I had a slight rub at full lock. And I also did a leveling kit on the front end. Also an alignment was required after the lift.

Here is what I started with:

Not as aggressive as I’d like, but overall I’m happy. Tires sidewall flush with upper fenders. Thank you all.

I do not recall you mentioning the fender flares you have. That said I feel it looks better when the tires are not poking further than the fenders anyway.

Hello all, I apologize for the seemingly basic question, but when you guys talk about having tires flush with the fenders for that "perfect stance", are you referring to the sidewall of the tires being perfectly aligned with the upper fender, or are you talking about the tread of the tires? I'm a little confused here ?
A perfect stance is all up to your own preference, personally for trucks I like having some poke. I currently have probably around 1.5inch of poke and I love the look.
