Just stumbled upon this thread.. I had this same idea and went ahead and got the TM knob and trail control button. I tried messing around in FDRS with no luck and a few weeks plus a few other mods in between and I'm now back to trying to get this working.

Has anyone had any luck with successfully programming these buttons? Mine is an XL but I've already upgraded the instrument cluster to XLT style.
How did you go about upgrading the cluster?

This was the main driver for my interest in TM. Figured the low cost was worth the risk of trying it out.

Thanks for the description of this particular capability.
Well after reading this whole thread I was very much interested in trying to find the switch but it seems that nobody has the switch and it is back ordered with no E TA and nobody can actually tell me when it would be in . Called every ford parts place that came up when I did this search for the part number nobody seems to have it if there is anyone out there that knows where this part can be bought please let me know

I work at a dealership. I just installed the cluster and programmed it using FDRS. When I first plugged it in it had all kinds of error messages since I don’t have BLIS or parking sensors etc.

As far as mileage goes i just got lucky and found a used cluster on eBay for $100 with almost the same exact mileage. It was a few hundred less than my current mileage.

I did the same. Found one on Ebay with similar millage. I used the Motorcraft as built file for my truck to get rid of the BLIS, parking assist, etc. Then I turned on the Off Road screen and then selective drive mode for TM.

Good to know. I'm trying to do the selectable drive mode right now. Haven't had any luck.. I was thinking it was something to do with my truck not having the upgraded cluster to begin with but now I think I just got a bad switch off of ebay.

I would imagine you need the upgraded cluster. How else are you going to know what mode you are in? Maybe the base cluster would show it but I would think maybe not?

I upgraded my cluster from the base STX to a XLT cluster just in case I was not clear on that. When I said I bought one off ebay with similar millage, I was referring to the XLT cluster not the switch.

Sorry if I caused some confusion on that.

So did I! When i first installed the TM switch I was able to switch modes and I could tell it was switching between 2wd and 4wd but it didn't show which mode. Now I cant get anything to work. Even after switching the option for selectable drive modes with FORScan.

Maybe reload the as built file from the Motorcraft site then turn on the Off Road screen, then TM? That is the process I did and it seems to be working for me.

I'll give it a shot it's worth a try. I'm trying to find PIDs for the TM button to see if it works.

Now you are going to make me go check and see if it stuck. I did not check it again after the first restart. I did drive around some and it was working. Now let me check after a restart.

I think it's just a bad switch in my case because the offroad screen worked flawlessly!

Still working and scrolling through all of the modes. Hopefully you get it figured out.

I ordered from Tasca I think July 26th or there abouts. It was delivered August 10th.

Maybe I got the last one?
