My guess is that now there are more Mustang Mach-E's on the road, like a giant succubus, they are drawing their power from cooler cars and trucks, leaving our vehicles drained of any soul they had. Strange things are going to start breaking with no explanation the more they drive off the lot.

Same thing happened to Pontiac's when the Aztec came out.

The first (and only, so far) Mustang Mach-E I have seen was one on the dealer's lot when I took my Ranger in for service.

At first look, I went OMG. I had FOUR DOORS!!! Blasphemy! It is sacrilegious to put four door on a Mustang.

After shaking my head in dis-belief, I went over and looked at it.
Well, that was a big NO THANK YOU. Was not impressed at all. Too over priced. Nothing favorable stood out from a styling and features stand point. And that blah plain front end was just plain butt ugly. Just like the model 3 Tesla. UUUGGGLY! It was just as bad as when they bloated up the T-Bird back in the '50's and added a rear seat.

I will definitely be keeping my Ranger.

Good thing it's not bug related...we, at Mack Trucks actually have someone dedicated as the "bug screen" expert for the gril...only God know what he does the rest of a product development cycle...?
Probably checking his teeth for the ones he missed! ?

Why did you dig up the dead body engineer. What does a body engineer do?

I would have suggested silicone or graphite to lubricate it so the dust has nothing to stick to.

Nope, not hacked....not a body Engineer...latches belong to them... Hard to know all the 5000 pieces that go into building a truck...
Standard corporate engineering tactic. Throw the problem over the fence...

(Just kidding around. You don't seem the type...)

There are videos out there that come from laborers out of the UK. The series is called “not my job”. Man, pretty unbelievable stuff.

Hi Dave,

It is to be honest with Forum members....There are things I just flat do not know. To say that I do, and give advise is just flat wrong. I am trying here to be an ambassador for Ford and Ranger, which was in my retirement charter...

What I found was folks got a snapshot into Ford Truck Engineering via my back stories. Most Folks have no idea of what it takes to bring a vehicle to production and to Market...

Best,
Phil

I believe it is the dampers fault.

the latch mechanism is grapheme lubricated at the factory. Normal daily driving creates a harmonic resonance that excites the nano grapheme balls creating a continuous lubricating environment on the nano scale. The damper has a cushioning effect against the otherwise normal resonant field thus reducing lubrication. A small subwoofer may help re-establish a positive harmonious balance in the rear.

Seems you found a copy of Chinese instructions. For what I’m not entirely sure…

Hi Dave,
<snip> ... folks got a snapshot into Ford Truck Engineering via my back stories. Most Folks have no idea of what it takes to bring a vehicle to production and to Market...

Best,
Phil
I love your stories, and I really appreciate your contributions here. So many forums are vast wastelands of uninformed old wives' tales that are so stupid they aren't even wrong. Which can be very frustrating when you go to one looking for actual answers. Your presence here has been such a wealth of practical knowledge and level-headed advice. Your refusal to jump down rabbit holes and admit when you don't know is one of your most endearing traits. I have found many things you've shared invaluable, and your stories of the trials and tribulations of the Product Development side of things rings very true to life.

I have also worked in an Engineering capacity for a Fortune 500 company, and although my role was far more limited in scope than what you were involved in, I do know how the inter-office politics works... I was just having a bit of fun at your expense with a little "inside joke". I hope you didn't take any offense, as there was no criticism of you intended. There are Engineers who have the credentials and not much else, and there are the Engineers who make it happen. In my opinion, you seem to belong in the latter group. So I hope you keep finding time to pop into this little corner of the Internet with your wisdom, knowledge and great stories.
