Good morning Ranger fans
I have a 2019 XLT. I have a question is there a way to keep your tailgate locked when you hit the button on your key fob to open the doors? I tried playing with the settings but I just can’t figure it out.
thanks in advance.

Unfortunately there's no way to do this through the settings. It would be a nice feature along with controlling your windows with the fob.

I think you can set it so when you unlock the doors one press unlocks just the driver's door and a second unlocks the rest of the doors, to include the tailgate. I'm not aware of any official way to disconnect the tailgate from the lock action of the rest of the doors.

as above.
the only other option would be to open up the tailgate and disconnect the wiring to the lock.
that would mean the FOB will never open your tailgate and you would need to use the key all the time.
My neighbor across the street did that after his tailgate on his Ram got stolen cause he forgot to relock the truck. I suggested he get a McGuard lock but he said he didn't like those and would just disconnect the power lock. Then he got mad each time he forgot he had to use the key to open the tailgate and one night forgot to relock it manually. Of course it got stolen again. We suspect it's the low rent illegals at the other end of the street since a lot of crap like this started after they moved (all 8 of them) in last year.

Now he has it back on the power lock and a McGuard anti theft lock.

More times than not a thief will come back and steal the same part again knowing he got away with it the first time. Sad that this happened to your neighbor but it's the reality of the world we live in now. This is a big reason I won't buy any vehicle that will not fit in my garage. Even the safest neighborhoods get robbed, that's usually where the good stuff is.

A question for others - my canopy/topper locks and overlaps the tailgate - keeps it secure if I neglect to lock it - of course, the cab would be unlocked and they could just take the entire truck.

Are there tonneau covers that do the same?

There are locking hard covers that can be linked to the truck's locking system. My dad's truck had one.

Sadly that's true. Back when we first moved in some 15 years back it was so quiet, nothing ever happened. On neighbor's night out the civic association president would host at their house and have local police sgt who he was friends with come out for a meet/greet. The officers used to joke that they had to look up the street cause they didn't know where it was.

Over the past year that has all changed with them having been to the low rent house more times than we can count. numerous domestic disturbances, noise complaints, some guy passed out naked in the front yard three houses down from me... Let me tell you my EXTREMELY religious next door neighbor about had a stroke over that one...

Same thing is happening here, well minus the naked guy. lol It used to be a really nice quiet area and you'd never see a spec of trash anywhere. Now (and yes I'll go there) since we've inundated with CA transplants crime has skyrocketed, there's more trash all over and the neighborhood is noisy now all the time. I heard this from locals when we were in South Dakota and in Utah all complaining about the very same issues there. Now I know not all those coming from CA are like this but sadly a lot are and it gives the good ones a bad name.
