Got mine today and headed for the garage.

Same deal with the seller....already got the refund and no need to return.

So, if it's mine to keep......let's see what we can do.

Lots of parts in the little bag.

As others have learned:

1) The top mounting bolt diameter is too small

2) The damper itself is too short

But: The lower bracket goes on (with a little filing) to make it lay flat

I test fit it a couple of times.....then carefully removed the tailight (I've seen other posts about how expensive these are!) to see how much room there is.

So........I haven't quite done it...yet....but it looks like I could drill one hole just below the tailgate cable mount...and it will work.

More to come.....

I wonder if the shock has enough stroke to open and close fully? If so, I see with your pic of it in place, I may be able to make up a bracket that drops down from the cable mount, instead of drilling a hole. Not a fan of drilling holes in my new truck, ha.

Not sure I’d go to much effort. By the time I make a bracket the cylinder will go bad. I’ll probably trash mine.

TKDMasterV,

Yep, not a fan of drilling holes in my new truck either....so we'll make sure the shock has enough stroke before we commit.

I'll look at whether a bracket would work, too.

Could just be patient for a little bit while Panda Motorworks gets there's done, too.

Looking at the pictures of the global Ranger, that placement looks about right. I would rather use a bracket, thinking something with mutiple holes and a pin you could move around to experiment with the best placement.

For the top bolt, you could put a keysert insert into the factory threaded hole and screw the bolt into it. But then you would need a longer stroke cylinder.

Good day to all,

This is Daniel from eBay seller DT-Autotech where you have all bought the Ranger struts from.
We are currently looking hard and deep into how to make a working version with our factory,
your input on how the strut you got from us did not work out would be greatly appreciated,
we would like to ask you, if you have the time, to show us some photos and videos.
If we clearly understand which parts to modify or which parts failed to fit in some particular way,
then we would be able to work better with our factory in making a usable, good quality product for you all to purchase.

We look forward to joining your conversation and discussion from here on,
in order to make good, working products for your beloved trucks! Thank you.

p.s. We had already read many comments starting from a previous page,
it seems some have already started to making modifications on the item on their own,
we look forward to hearing the results and, possibly, the good news!

Feedback is helpful but do you not need a Ranger in person to develop and finalize this?

He’s looking for us to make the modification and use it to make a working product, I think that’s why he told everyone to keep them.

Thank you for all the replies so far,

We would like to clarify that we have no intention of using our buyers in any sort of way,
the reason why we left the choice of returning the product to our buyers is simply because we do not need them back.
Our factory is already working on improving the old version after getting our initial feedback, but of course,
the more input we have on the cause of the fitment issue the better and quicker for our factory to respond and provide results.
We would like to humbly ask all of you to try working with the struts you already got, no pressure, no coercion, it is all up to you.
Again, the more information we have, the more likely and quicker we would be able to make a working product.

- Daniel

I totally wasn’t meaning it as a negative, I was the first to order from you and I will make this work. Already made the bracket now I just need to fine tune...will be done within the hour.

Getting closer

That the way it normally works?
Is he paying you for developing the product he we will sell to others? Is he a vendor on this forum? Sounds like a not normal activity on a forum.
Maybe we should help Panda Motorsports who is a forum vendor.

I'm still ok with the assist. I get lazy sometimes.
It never fails that someone else thinks that not only is it ok to to a King-Kong slam pick up doors closed are the same fools that let the gate gravity-open. Thats the only reason why I'm waiting for one of you fine individuals to beta-test an aftermarket dampener for me! :)
