See the screenshot that was provided?

just below the red blob there’s text how to handle downloads
Hmmm.....mine doesn't have that and I use Safari.

Edit: Just noticed that was a Chrome screenshot.

My 2021 with Nav (located in central Oregon) says it is up to date with build 22251. They probably roll the updates out by either geo and/or a subset of VINs at a time.

Well, my Sync 3 version 3.4.21194 is apparently still up-to-date as well. But then my Sync 3 never saw the 3.4.22251 when it rolled out.

So, I just did the v23188 update on my truck using a USB stick. It updated successfully in the truck. I came inside the house to see if there was an XML file on the stick. With my previous updates, I never got the XML so I was never able to update Ford.com. To my complete surprise, my dashboard on Ford.com was already updated to v23188! I guess it went to Ford via WiFi? Anyway, this is the first time since I've owned this truck that Ford.com is showing my Sync as up to date!

New Sync 3 version available from Ford this afternoon. Downloading now. Will probably not install until at least tomorrow.

Lol!! I guess I’m over the hill, because I don’t understand all that stuff. So all I want to do is get in a dependable truck, and use it, so it earns the dollars spent for it. Sometimes I wish I still had my old Silverado without all these “Syncs”! LOL???

I've only driven my truck once since the update, but.....

Sync remembered my settings!

If it will keep remembering them I'll be happy.

Now to find out what "safety" limitations they have recently incorporated that kill functionality.

I did the update through USB and every thing is working fine, however I can not verify the update, I can not find the XM file any one else had this issue.

I did the update thru WiFi. The beauty of doing it this way is the truck does not have to be running. In accessory mode, I turned off lights, radio and climate and left it alone while it was updating. Took 30-45 minutes and completed successfully.
Next up is the map update. Arrgh, the truck does have to be running for that...

EDIT: The Ford Owner site still shows I needs to update but the truck said it was successfully updated.

I did mine with USB. Did not get XML file, but it somehow updated Ford.com anyway. It must have been through WiFi. Have you checked Ford.com to see if it shows the update?

The truck shows Sync 3.4.23188 but the Ford Owner site shows it needs updating to 3.4.23188.
Curious, I went back into the truck setting menu and did a check for available updates.

It is now downloading 4U5T-14G422-CAM. This file is not part of the 3.4.23188 update but it is a file that gets loaded with the new map (2.22) (I've got my Map Update USB ready to go)

I wish I knew what that file does....is there a secret decoder ring that shows what these various files do? I'll let it continue until completed as the truck is not running and I won't be doing the map update for a week or so. I wonder if it's going to find more files to update....

If that's the case, it seems like I can't remove the ".zip" before saving. Not sure I understand what that does anyway. Will the update not work if the .zip isn't removed before saving as suggested?
don't worry about it, it's terrible advice anyway

if ford doesn't know about the update don't worry--it literally does not matter at all

I don’t get it… why does Ford NOT make the updates available to everyone? Do they really push them out regionally, and in diff time waves?
That's pretty normal for any large scale deployment like this, so if something does go wrong it affects few people than if they were to blow up the entire userbase at once. It also spreads out the load on the distribution servers.

But they did know this time, even without me sending an XML file. It's like magic :). My OCD is finally happy!
