Did you format the thumb drive to exFAT and drop the license into the folder?
Everything wad done adn downloaded correctly...
As I posted, my wife found a similar posting on an F-150 forum, and problem was solved by "wiggling" the drive in the slot.
I tried that, and it worked, downloading in about 40 minutes or so.
Problem was solved, and I had never used either of the USB ports, for anything, before the download.

It took about 30 minutes to get to where I had to restart the truck and another 10 to 15 minutes after that to finish up.
Wow, how are you guys getting this done so quickly? It took mine almost 50 minutes for the first reboot and another 40 minutes or so to the 2nd reboot. All seems fine and Voice commands work so I think it installed fine but it took well longer than Ford sates in their update docs.

YOU, friend to idiot me & all others reading this just solved my entire issue & likely helped others… I had the license file in the usb root rather than the SyncMyRide folder.
I'm a total dweeb…. Sorry everyone & big THX to alcohenusa 👍🏼
I had the same issue you had! I stewed over it for 2 months and thought I’d try again and read the forum… It worked!!! Just moved the 424 file and presto! Also updated Sync to 3.4.23188!
