A couple of things I have noticed about these oil filters are the metal can has become a lot thinner. When I hand tighten a filter it will "dent" and then flex back. Never had that a few years ago and I know that I am not getting stronger with age.
Another is to be careful using a flute wrench. I have always used Wix filters but the flute number used to be 15 and now is 14 if I remember correctly on the 51348.
i have always oiled the gasket and did hand tight over 40 years. But I now snug and give about a quarter turn with the wrench. However snug is still ambiguous when describing a method.
