I've played with trailer mode (without a trailer) and sport mode when driving in the mountains. they seem to be different than each other (I can't figure out what or why) but better than normal. Maybe Phil or someone knows?

Tow mode at the least enables downhill descent control, which will downshift automatically to control speed. Sport will do that too to some extent, but I find tow mode is more pronounced. Tow mode also does NOT have the annoying high RPM hold that Sport has, and is generally less aggressive at keeping the revs high.

I did a few hrs of driving yesterday and today.Using Sport and tow mode. The winner is Tow Mode ! The shifting behavior is perfect in tow mode in my opinion.
A Tune would probably be the best option. But if you don’t have the cash Tow mode it is lol !

Theres no fun in sport mode.
Used it this morning to do a spirited run from the light.
Hit 50km in a heartbeat, let off the gas and it hung at 4100rpm....then dropped a little, then some more, sounded like I had no idea how to shift. I was hanging gears longer than I accelerated.
Dumb programming
Were you level at the time? I notice that the programming will hold a gear when going up or down the hills around east TN. If it hangs longer than I like I just shove it back to drive.

Tow mode has become the norm for me. Fuel economy has improved over drive mode. Sport mode once in a while just to increase the fun level.
Do you have to enable tow mode with every start up or does it remember the last position? I suspect you have to enable it every time? If so I wonder if it can be bypassed like a start stop eliminator? But of course there's times you don't want it in tow mode so a permanent bypass would not be good.

Yes enable after every start up. I just go thru a button sequence after starting during warm up. Enable disable ect. I feel like a fighter pilot. :like:

Alright, with the Ford Performance tune, I find Sport mode light years ahead of Drive mode. Reminds me of my old F-150 (2004 Heritage) with the 4.6 litre V-8. Take it out of overdrive and it's like a different engine.

I'm curious now about the Tow mode, I'll have to give it a try. Poor man's Sport mode?

Like you I have the FP tune and I agree, S mode is quick. I tried tow mode for the first time on the way home tonight and really liked it. It is as describe: kinda between D and S. I like that you can still lock out gears, and how it doesn't skip gears. I can see myself using it a lot. Give it a try.

I really like all the different options this trans has.
