Folks,
After 6 months of ownership, I finally solved my “dash” rattle. It drove me nuts that I had an intermittent rattle that appeared to come from the dash area above the instrument cluster near the defroster area. I pressed on the dash, the plastic around the mirror, etc.; but nothing would stop that noise.
Just by chance, I pressed on the headliner near the visor (see pic), and HOLY COW BATMAN!, the rattle stopped. There is a small wire harness that runs along that area about 1 inch from the edge. The harness was rattling against the metal roof. I wedged some rag between the harness and the roof to cushion it. Took it for a drive on rough roads and the rattle is gone!
I did remove the sun visor clip (circled area in pic) to enable the headliner to be pulled down enough to wedge the rag in between the harness and the roof.
Love it! My first Ford is turning me into a Rattle Whisperer. That is something that my Subaru and Mazda could not do.
