Hi Ron,

File a formal complaint with Ford...this needs a factory fix...should not be happening...

The dealer fixed it. Are you suggesting I need to report it so Ford Has knowledge of it to implement a fix at the plant?
Have a good one, Phil.

Hi Ron,

I think if we can build a case to fix at the assembly plant and also maybe a Field Service Bulletin to help the dealers with diagnostics. Likely not a TSB, but an FYI to the dealer. I am surprised during the plant audit drives that this has not shown up. The plant drives a few vehicles each day for a limited mileage. You will note this on the side window and the odo will have a double digit mileage as delivered. The warranty is extended by what ever the mileage is shown on the odo...eg 15 miles. Then there are Engineering Drives where we travel to the plant and drive about a dozen trucks but mileage is a bit higher....we are restricted to as I recall to 75 miles and if we exceed that for some reason, we have to buy the truck and the plant builds a replacement. Think that only happened one time at Edison Assembly on a 4G supercab with a terrible vibration that defied fixing. Turned out to be an out of round rear wheel...not easily diagnosed in the plant environment.

In my case, the rattle never showed up until I had about 3000 miles on the truck. Maybe that is why it is not found at the factory??

Hi Ron,

Our worst nighmare... long usage, and we miss the boat.... The only thing is our durability vehicle and high mileage vehicles in fleet testing....but if not reported then we miss the boat.

We do have engineering evaluations of these "spent" vehicles and problems are noted to catch problems such as you have, but this is where Vendor Quality can rear its ugly head. I recommend to throw this rattle on the plate of engineering at Ford to understand...Vendor quality...sic Supplier Quality Assurance on the vendor....design problem...fix the design or the process to make the part... Is this a perfect system...Nope! But it does catch most problems...

I just hope we get better over time as processes, materials and designs get better.

Okay so I have a strange one (at least to me) I’ve been randomly hearing this little light knocking almost sounds electronic too like when a disc is loading to a gaming system! Only happens when truck is parked or stopped and I thought engine had to be on but I was able to duplicate the sound by simply turning the key halfway to electronic mode where lights are one but engine off, here is the video, hoping anyone can help me diagnose this!
